This is our first year homeschooling, we are doing Pre K stuff now. It's hard to know what to pick or where to start and knowing if you are picking the right curriculum. We are 1 income too, so I'm trying to be cost effective or find curriculum, like Science, that I can buy now but use again in the future. We also look for Christian based curriculum that align with our beliefs.

I love your hair!! I am trying to branch out and try new curriculums. Your videos are a go-to for me for insider looks :) I have been using everything Abeka since k4 and will be going into 6th grade next year. I also have two other kids (rising k5 and 3rd grade) and need curriculums that are less rigorous. So far, I plan to use IEW, Generations, and Mastorbooks. Thank you for all of your help and wisdom :)

I am so excited about Generations. I am kind stuck on what to us to LA and MAth but think I am going to go with Lifepac

You pretty much covered everything I consider when choosing curriculum. One other thing I look at is how the subject is laid out as far as scheduling. We do independent learning, so if the curriculum is scattered and it is not easy to see which pages/books/ lessons to use each day and I cant easily tweak it, we dont try it.

Right? Lol. It’s so hard sometimes! I’m trying to decide between IEW for my soon to be 6th grade son with ADHD and Writeshop Jr. Both great programs with pros and cons.

It’s so hard to pick! Do you want to try IEW for free? I have a link for that. Maybe try it out and that can help you decide ❤️ Here’s my referral link, it has several of their classes (including Structure and Style) iew.com/MandyMaltz

What is your most recommended reading program I am in between gather round and all about reading. Do you have any other better suggestions?

What are your thoughts on using a secular math program in early elementary school?
@mandy-maltz11 ай бұрын
Personally, if I have a Christian alternative, I go with that. I don’t use anything secular unless I have no other option.

@@mandy-maltz thank you! I really prefer a Christian math curriculum too. Next year all of my kids except our youngest will have a Christian math curriculum. Our youngest will be in second grade math and she struggled with the Christian math I tried. I landed on. Math With Confidence by Kate Snow and she is understanding. I think she has dyscalculia, dyslexia, and dysgraphia. Do you know anything about this author? I cannot find anything about her worldview, but the curriculum is published by Well Trained Mind Press and she homeschooled her own children, so I assume she is either Catholic or Protestant. This has been my heart, so I appreciate input from another Christian mama!

Great insights! We use one brand over and over, and it's Logos Press/Canon Press.😅

In addition to Generations, have you found any other companies that appear Reformed in their theology?
