Just finished reading "Butcher's Crossing" today I concur that it is a masterpiece. First thing I did after finishing reading it was look for your review. I feel you did a good job of tying the novel's themes together.

I just finished reading Butcher's Crossing. Wonderful story. Albeit quite gut-wrenching at times. A masterpiece indeed.

You should read 'Three Against the Wilderness' some time. I found it in the smoking room at work 20 years ago. I read the first page and took it home. Wonderful book.

I agree with all you said, this book is stunning. In my personal opinion slightly better than Stoner. Both blew me away.

Just watched the film and terrible acting… the young actor was ‘great’ but Nicholas cage was absent and the other two actors unconvincing, all white capped teeth which was irritating & wholly inauthentic - great story - badly cast.
