I'm the same age as you both and I used to go to the Cullen area every year from London when I was a kid to visit family. The best thing about Cullen to us kids was the ice cream shop on the high street close to where you got your fish and chips. Further along the coast a couple of miles is the amazing Sand End beach and another couple of miles after that the beautiful fishing harbour and village of Portsoy. The railways and viaducts were to transport the fish from the harbours off to the big cities to market. Closed in the sixties by the infamous Dr. Beeching who closed thousands of miles of railways throughout the UK.

I paused it on the chippy menu & noticed the difference in pies & puddings. There wasn't a meat & potato pie (or should I say potato & meat🙄) but they had macaroni pie & a lasagne pie🤔 & the puddings were white pudding, black pudding, haggis pudding but no steak & kidney pudding as in a suet pudding🤔 Although my brother lives in Ayrshire I've never visited a chippy near him so have never noticed the difference before. When my friends & I went to a chippy on Skye we just wanted fish & chips so didn't really look at the menu, but I did see battered sausage, battered mars bars & battered pizza slices😮Heart attack city😂😂 I can't believe how much fish has gone up now in a chippy!! I need to sell a kidney to go now🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣
