Thank you for sharing. I'm right search a set of finish chisel. On my opinion, chisel handle are not a problem with woodworker, they are easy to deal with. And i will choose PM-11 between them, first reason was you sayed PM-11 blade edge might be scratch your hand, yes but i will say care you hand, but do not grind it off, that is a clean cut finish blade want, and then the back of blade looks gray but not shining like other chisels is beacause PM-11 was a carbon powdered steel, that is exactly what i'm looking for, powdered steel was a superfine steel, can make a nice smooth cutting edge.

A half inch wide butt chisel is something that's worth keeping in your shop apron.

He said butt! Yeah my butt chisels are worn out chisels with small handles. But they do work. Been thinking of getting a new set.

While I don't have experience with Blue Spruce gear, I do like like the Veritas butt chisels. I use the 2" extensively for cleaning up big tenons or for mortises when doing a bridle joint. On the other end of the scale, Robert Sorby pairing chisels are great this for this kind of work too.

I have never ground down any of my Veritas chisels. The metal does tend to chip rather than fold over. For my hand the Veritas is a great handle (I’ve copied it for other tools).

@@BatCaveCreations I’m still somewhat new to them! I was using Japanese style chisels before. I also have some Richter chisels (an obvious choice for me lol). I ended up not liking the metal rings on the Japanese chisels because they were damaging my brass mallet. I’ve been using them on bloodwood, which is pretty darned hard. I’ve chipped them a couple times, but I think that it was because I wasn’t playing nice with that hard wood. Love the feel in my hand.

What kind of work do you do? Do you ever find the length of the butt chisel to be a detriment and you need extra length? I have LN at the moment but seriously thinking about selling and going the BS Butt Chisel route. Thanks!

On the Lee Valley products........if you were to break a chisel handle in normal use.......I can't think of a better company than Lee Valley to contact for help.......their customer service and stance behind their products is unmatched.......as you are saying, "you have heard of people claiming to have broken a chisel handle".......that is hearsay at best......why not call Lee Valley and ask them what they would do if you broke a handle and include their response in your review??
@BatCaveCreations

I find it improbable that a company as well run as LV did not do their due diligence in testing the reliability of their chisel handles before marketing them......they do not want to sell tools that will have problems and fail in use......contact them tomorrow and ask these questions directly to them and then report what you have learned......I think you are one of the better tool reviewers on YT......I'm trying to encourage you to be one of the most thorough......@@BatCaveCreations
