As in HUGE! They fill stadiums with tickets selling out in minutes to the tune of 60,000+! Fan base ARMY ranges in age from 1 to 70 and includes both male and female! And don't let their Korean songs deter you. Their music truly transcends language with its deep and meaningful messages.

They are massive globally already. You are just late to the party. Butter is their 4th consecutive no 1 on Billboard and have had their last 5balbums at no. 1 Billboard 200. They have been selling out stadiums concerts in US, UK, Europe, Brazil and of course Asia countries. Sold out stadium tours in less then an hour. They are massive globally not just Korea. Do not be fooled by this single either. They do all types of genre and have 3 crazy rappers and 4 amazing vocalist and they write, compose and produce as well. Check them out more and you will see what we ARMY mean.

only thing both 1D and BTS havein common is that they dominated the world as the biggest "boyband" in the world in their peaks. 1D is british pop, while BTS is... well a lot of music genres ? pop hip-hop RnB edm jazz lo-fi electronic, synth pop, rap, rock... I can't really put those guys into one box because they are too versatile, so let's call them a korean music group i guess. So pop music isn't really that much of a huge majority among their discography, i'd say they have more hip-hop based song for their whole discography than pop tbh.

They are the "Korean One direction" if one direction could sing, rap, dance, write and produce their own music and have the freedom to put out anything they want. They came from an indie no name company and had a very organic growth of following. Also the songs they make are reflective of their ages and not the teen demo only. They are in thier mid to late 20s.Thank God for social media, translations and word of mouth people all over the world got to know them. And now they are huge huge globally especially in the USA.

"is that really his actual voice" yes it is... and i know he looks like 16, but Suga is actually 28. yeah BTS is 3 rappers and four vocalists [though actually they can all sing, and JK can also rap as well]. They all write songs, especially RM and Suga who have written hundreds between them. Most of their songs are mainly in korean. They dont just do these fun pop tunes either, they do some pretty serious hip hop, in fact they cover a ton of genres, but also the lyrical content is surprisingly diverse. They can get pretty deep and dark at times. Give them a chance, the deep dive is really worth it. No i was never into "one D", as a rule, boybands .... not really my thing. BTS though, fuckin awesome.

Uff you must be living under a rock.😄They are not slowly becoming popular. They are smashing records (from the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees, Adele and many more) left and right since 2017. They have 4 No. 1 hot 100 singles and 5 No. 1 Albums under their belt, as well as a Grammy nomination. They debuted in 2013 as a Hiphop/rap group but evolved their style through the years. From Hiphop/rap/rnb to Edm/pop/rock/Latin they’ve done it all.:) A big part of their success are their lyrics. They have a big hand in writing and producing the songs themselves. You’ll hardly find a song where not at least one member is credited in either writing and/or producing. In their lyrics they talk about topics like mental health, society issues, cyber bullying, Empowerment and self-love. All their videos have subtitles. BTS consist of 3 Rappers and 4 vocalists. They all release solo music outside of BTS as well. All the 3 Rappers (2 of them came from the underground scene before joining BTS) released Mixtapes (on SoundCloud for free) that are absolutely amazing. They are also real dancers. 1 was an underground street dancer before joining and the other studied contemporary dance. I noticed u liked the music video. This is one of their most simple mv’s as well as choreography you’ll be surprised.😃 Hope u check out a few of their other songs. Here are some suggestions: Mic Drop Cypher 1-4 Ugh Ddeang (I recommend u to watch the explanation video as well, because the song has a lot of wordplay in it:) The Truth untold Fake Love Blood Sweat and Tears Pied Piper Airplane pt. 2 Fire Dope Dionysus Rapper Mixtapes: RM, Mono Agust D, D-2 Hope World Vocalist Solo songs: Euphoria, Still with u Serendipity, Filter Singularity, Sweet Night Epiphany, Moon Here is also a good and updated introduction vid. if u are interested:) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXi1naSvqtCsaNU

I feel like One Direction and BTS are WAY different from one another (don’t get me wrong i’m a fan of both), the only similarities they have are that they’re a band and broken wide globally. BTS, despite having the talent, are trained extensively years before even debuting. They produce and write their own songs, incorporate a storyline in their discography as well as different themes such as philosophy, psychology, politics, women empowerment, anti-bullying, mental health, and many more. I can’t reiterate any more coz this might be an essay hehe. + I highly recommend reacting to xCeleste’s “This Is BTS: Introduction to BTS” video to know more. 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZSohHSImtl8b7c

Careful about comparing them to 'one direction' and such, the ARMY (BTS fandom) can be overprotective over those comments once you get to know them BTS has 4 vocalists and 3 rappers, debuting in 2013. 2 of the rappers were popular in the korean underground hiphop scene, the third an underground street dancer. Currently the eldest is 29, the youngest 23 - only 15 when they debuted withe the song No More Dream, a pretty Hiphop track - the lyrics are good even if the music video is low budget and old school lol They all have a hand in writing producing and composing their music in three languages (Japanese, korean and english) Their known for their in depth, meaningful lyrics and incredible word play. Some albums have been inspired by classical books like Herman Hesse's Demian, as well as psychological concepts from Carl Jung. They all have solo songs too, and RM (one of the rappers) has over 180 song writing credits to his name, and Suga has won awards for producing other singers hit songs too. Pop isnt their usual style, coming from hiphop roots, even tho their labelled kpop, but they can obviously work it well. Some recommendations ON:kinetic manifesto film, Louder than bombs, Dope, Fake love, Dionysus, Spring day, Mic drop, Blue and grey Rap only songs: Their cyphers (1-4), OUTRO:Tear, UGH and Ddaeng They have over 300 songs, as well as solo songs and individual mixtapes so its super hard to narrow down suggestions lol

@Moo 60 what’s that supposed to mean? First of all, I promise you they did and still do. Literally every person who’s on stage or being filmed professionally, wears make up. It evens out your skin tone which helps with meeting the entertainment industry’s ridiculous beauty standards and stops stage lighting from reflecting on your face. TV news announcers, pop singers, interviewers, broadway actors etc literally all wear makeup. BTS just wear more noticeable makeup, which is because the beauty standards for South korean men are different than for british men, and it’s also very normal for kpop idols to wear more obvious makeup. Plus, it’s fun and it looks good to wear eye shadow sometimes, so what’s wrong with that?

Long road ahead: for more rap, try "Ugh" and the four "Cyphers"; if you want hip-hop, watch "MIC Drop" (Steve Aoki remix) or, maybe, "Dope" or "Fire"; for more think-pieces, try "Fake Love" or "Blood, Sweat, and Tears"; and they also do solo projects, e.g., Suga (aka Agust D) in "Daechwita." Also Jimin's "Serendipity," if you're more into ballads or love songs. Lots to discover in their versatility...

Why would they release music.... with not their voices? oh well call this our song and sing it in the video but... its not us? You should check them out live, theyre amazing perfomers with great vocals: "Your eyes tell" and "Crystal snow" are great for it, youd also probably enjoy their tiny desk concert, or their MTV unplugged (They sang their own songs and also covered "Fix you" by cold play) Also, the member RM is fluent in english, he wrote the rap sections for this song, the other members arent fluent but can hold a conversation, with Jungkook probably being the next most fluent as hes been studying it more recently

Hi from one of the 30something ARMYs! I'm in the US & a loooong time ago there was a duo called Milli Vanilli that literally won a "Best New Artist" Grammy but had to give it back when it was discovered they'd faked their whole career. Some record label had basically taken these 2 models, put their faces on the cd but used studio singers, & pretended the models were the actual singers. It was insane. They got caught when the track they were using for a live show started skipping -,- BTS being so crazy talented freaks people out sometimes 😆 I'm glad they do that "Hey look, we're just gonna stand here & be quiet a sec so you can see we're really live okay?" thing 💜

bts actually were recognized overseas before they were recognized in korea lol,, i would say they grew in popularity all over the world at around the same speed but over in america and europe people have been a lot more... hesitant to recognize their success edit: the boy band format that bts use is inspired by the us, yes, but boy groups and girl groups are a big industry in korea so they didn't really copy 1D or JB, its more like the Korean industry took inspiration from 90s boy groups from the west and also borrowed elements from japanese jpop groups.

What makes Kpop interesting to listen to is that they do mix genres and change up the beat/tempo in most songs. Kpop is not a genre, it is a mix of genres (any and all) that is presented/integrated with fashion, dance, and beauty(make up, hair color & style, etc.) What makes BTS diff from other kpop groups is that first, their choreography is more complex than others and their lyrics are more profound than most. They write and produce their own music, so their lyrics are very personal. Also, they touch on subjects like mental health, bullying, the economy, social issues, injustices, etc. They have released only 2 numbers in English (dynamite & butter) which are simplified for the US market. Also, so you know, BTS did not 'suddenly' appear in the US. They've had concerts here for years. They've been performing and winning awards at the BBMAs and the AMAs since 2017. But US radio stations would not play their music because it wasn't in English. Hence, Dynamite and Butter. As for the production quality.... S Korea is putting the US to shame. Whether it's music videos or movies or tv programs... the quality of the product is far superior to anything offered stateside.

BTS surely is setting the bar so high performance-wise and production-wise every single time. Other artists/performers should be embarrassed to go up on stage and just stand there or shake their whatever. For me personally comparing BTS to One Direction is BLASPHEMY. First of all BTS raps, they write their own songs and they even sometimes do their own choreography. They can do ballads and or pop songs. Their songs are mostly about loving yourself and positivity. They are already superstars globally. I recommend you watch their live performance of Butter when they performed it on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

You can have your faves without putting others down. But BTS is definitely not "Korean one direction ". I am a directioner , not an ARMY but I love BTS'S music and they are extremely talented and hard working. They have a strong fanbase globally too. And just as people, they are amazing and humble and nicest people. There is toxicity in BOTH the fandoms. Better not get into that. BTS and One Direction have themselves shown support and love to eachother so there is no point in fans fighting for who is better. You can be protective over your idol and it is totally fine, and it is needed also. That shows how much you love your idol and support them. So far I am happy to see the comments support BTS to show they are a big thing globally but hopefully you all will not diss one direction because it doesn't feel good when someone does that to your idol. Who is more talented is not our job. We have our favorites and we must respect and appreciate others too especially when our idols are so good with eachother. Some comments are telling one direction achieved nothing, please don't say that, it doesn't feel good. Let's not even compare them. They are good and talented in their own way. And I know you guys brought one direction only because he said "Korean one direction " but he definitely didn't mean it in a wrong way because he had no idea, so let's just enjoy his journey in discovering BTS. :) #BTS #ONEDIRECTION

One direction were the biggest at their time, just as BTS is now,so for the people who don't know BTS properly, it's normal for them to have misconception about them. And he didn't even say 'korean 1D' in a negative way and he said that before even listening to the song, after watching the video,he didn't say anything like that again,he said he was surprised and look y'all are here to judge him and diss 1D just because he said those few words. And yeah 1D couldn't rap or dance, but ofcourse they had talent too, they had these amazing vocals, that's why they were this much successful and they broke records too. Both are talented in their own way. You don't gotta drag another artist down just to make your fav look good.Another thing, everyone give much efforts and every single artist has obstacle and works hard in different ways,no one just get all f those fame and success easily, some may struggle to get the fame, some may struggle after being in the spotlight.I'm a directioner but I like BTS too.they're hella talented and such good persons . So we should just enjoy music , keep loving our idol and respect everyone.Anyways,Treat people with kindness

They are very different from other white boy bands because they are talented individually not just one or two members are the main focus. They are also professional dancers who can write and produce their own music. You can see that this video is showcasing all individually. This choreography is actually pretty easy for them and can't be compared to other choreography.

Yesterday I saw a reaction video, where someone watched the dancing scenes in the elevator and said: their dancing is not impressive at all. And this is just... the first thing, people say is, that BTS is good at dancing xD So I was like.. how can he ... and tried in my head to explain the elevator dancing scenes because they look dorky and funny. At that right moment @suffi reax said: yeah they show their personalities at this point and I am so glad you said that, you got it! thank god. Thumbs up.

I started to watch your reactions for Louis and then for One Direction cause I was a big fan of them back then and now I saw this and I couldn't be more happy. You got a new subscriber 😄 I love hearing your opinions about music and I'm glad you reacted to Bts. I'm a big Army (bts fan) for 3 years now and I couldn't be more happier thanks to their music. They are not only great singers but also dancers, performers, writers, producers and of course amazing humans. They had so many songs with so many genres that it is really hard to describe them as pop artist. I think you would really like many of their songs. And if you look at their lyrics they are really deep and beautiful for most of their song. Butter and Dynamite are their most popular, whole in english songs and they are typical, fun pop songs for the radio. You should check their other songs like: black swan, on, mic drop and many others to see their diversity. And yes this are their voices 😂

Welcome to BTS! Glad you enjoyed Butter, there is a lot to still discover if you like their music. The dancer that you pointed out in the elevator scenes is J-Hope, he is the lead dancer in the group and usually helps others to learn choreo too. He is also kind of the second leader of the group in general, keeping the performances and everything on stage under control, while RM is more like a public figure leader, taking care of press, interviews, translating for other members, leading awards acceptance speeches, announcing new things, keeping the teamwork in general and planning ahead. As someone who I assume never listened to any other songs except music in English (?) I understand that it is natural to compare this new music with something that you already know and assume that if it's in Korean you won't be able to understand it (there are CC in all official music videos, also doolset bangtan wordpress website is the most reliable for translations). But we as ARMY are so done with people when they discover BTS and start putting such labels as "Korean One Direction" or "Korean Justin Bieber, Korean Justin Timberlake, Korean Chris Brown, Korean Michael Jackson"... It is OK to say that for example BTS is a boy group similar to as One Direction was, cause they're all men and they sing, or that some of their dance moves remind MJ or Chris Brown, because there is nothing really original in art, inspiration for everything new comes from already created things. Just please don't call them Korean versions of a Western performers equivalent, thank you.

Yes m'dear, that is them singing and Rapping. Those are their voices, no lie. They have worked really hard to be where they are now. 8 years ago, they were hated and told they would never make it. Now they can sell out any place in seconds. I think you would really enjoy some of their Korean/Japanese songs as well. The guy you said was "Popping off" is J-Hope (Jung Hoseok) and he is a rapper and Dance Lead. He came from an underground dance group. All of them can sing, dance and yes, rap. (Jin and Jimin not so much, but they can) In the MV when RM (Group Leader) is rapping the lines "Got ARMY Right behind us when we say so" The other guys are using their bodies to spell out "ARMY" (Their fan base name). BTS is humble and very loving when it comes to their fans. They make sure to thank us for ever award they get and every record they break. BTS and ARMY walk hand-in-hand. We love them! I love them. BTS & ARMY, Always. (And they do have a few songs they have written just for ARMY) 💜💜 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYa6c4yAn9p8gpI (I recommend, this song is a song written about the hardships they faced and how ARMY was there and kinda "saved" them)

BTS actually has more than 300 songs in their discography covering a variety of Genres. Each of the 7 members of BTS write and produce music, a few of them not just for themselves but for other artists as well. Even some western artists. All of their official music videos have English subtitles if you turn on the closed captions, and you can also find a lot of live performances that have had English subtitles added. Their NPR tiny desk concert does not have subtitles, or choreography like many of their live performances, but it’s a good example of what their voices sound like live. If you are interested to see another music video of theirs I recommend Fake Love, or On Kinetic Manifesto. Thanks for taking the time to react to BTS.

(TOP has a song called time to say goodbye, it wasn't on an album and you haven't done them in a while, kinda intense song, but I hope you'll get around to it.) Also, BTS 4 singers, 3 rappers, 4 "dancers", if you do a song of theirs that's in Korean they always have English subtitles, If you want dance, great vocals, and rap, then I suggest On (kenetic manifesto film of the song is a better one for dance) so yeah happy you enjoyed it.

I would compare BTS to Michael Jackson before I would compare them to One Direction (no hate to One Direction, the style is just different). Because besides being a group of guys who sing and are worldwide famous, they really don't have anything else in common. BTS are already famous in the US. They've sold out numerous stadiums in the US, have had 5 number 1 albums and 4 number 1 songs in the US. They were even nominated for a grammy this year. They have almost 400 awards to their name and plenty of them are from American Award shows. Only 1 member of BTS (RM) speaks english fluently, but yes those are all their voices. BTS do it all hiphop, rnb, pop, edm, neo-soul, latin, and jazz. They have over 200 songs to their name and will be celebrating their 8th anniversary in a few days. If you want to react to more BTS turn on the closed captions for english subtitles. They are currently the biggest group in the world and just surpassed Coldplay as the most streamed group on Spotify with over 17 billion streams. Their names are Jin age 28 vocalist, Suga/Agust D (the name he uses for solo work), J-Hope age 27 rapper, RM age 26 rapper and group leader, Jimin age 25 vocalist, V age 25 vocalist, and Jungkook age 23 vocalist.
