Butterfly Dream - Re:Zero Lust IF Story

The Butterfly Dream, AKA the "Harem IF", is the Lust route of the Re:Zero what-if spinoff series.
Natsuki Subaru becomes King of Lugunica and now lives in the Royal Castle with Ram, Rem, Emilia, Priscilla, Anastasia, Crusch, Felt, and Petra. All five Royal Selection candidates are his wives, while Petra, Ram, and Rem work as his personal maids.
This ridiculous harem story was written before the other popular "what-if" stories, so it lacks the thematic quality of its neighboring chapters. However, it can still be an enjoyable read nonetheless.

The greed route has him be a hero, so it's no less a "good" ending than sloth. Each route represents subaru failing and giving into a certain sin, losing his full nature. In sloth he gives up and abandons his heroism to live a normal life with rem. Wrath he gives into violence and does whatever he wants, killing anyone who opposes him. Pride he becomes completely focused on one goal, to make Emilia king, even she's just the king of ashes. In lust he becomes a piece of harem shit(I'm 90% certain this one was just a joke and not a real possible route). In gluttony he becomes so desperate to regain his sense of self that he loses it forever. In greed, he becomes a perfect hero who saves everyone, but loses his heart, and takes away everyone's happines in exchange for keeping them safe. Even Echidna is sad in that route, since she liked/loved him more when he was human.

@@ianr.navahuber2195 putting aside loving a guy who's this horrible, that reminds me of dungeon defense(korean ln) where *spoilers for a pretty fun and clever novel with some great prose and a "genius" mc if you're into that * the mc shares his memories of how fed up he was with his family situation as a child, with his mothers trying to kill each other and even his father on multiple occasions, and the children and especially him being caught in the crossfire, and him being sent to the hospital and almost dying at one point cause his trash of a father used him as a human shield(lol) to block his stabby mother . that series is one where the mc's father is extremely brilliant and so pulls all that off but it's still a living hell, what the shit did subaru do to them to make them this meek?

Maybe This subaru was more of a "psyquiatrist" type. as in maybe this subaru Used "Return by death" in a way that kinda took a page of echidna's book, BUT without losing himself like his Kasenaru self (as in, NEVER did the crazy thing of dying millions of times, but thought "Dying 5 to 10 times tops" to get to know more the people about me and try to know them emotionally and mentally so they don't try to kill me more is safe approach; never trying to emotionally manipulate them, so sometimes i will need to just wing it and hope for the best); and did what he did towards Rem in canon, as in took the patient forgive and forget and help approach at best expecting to end up on "neutral friendly" terms with everyone surrounding him BUT by accident ended up charming all the girls present and making them fell in love with him; and most likely ended up making all the ones who don't see them romantically look him as a close friend and brother
