Re: Zero is one of the most interesting isekai anime that has come out in the past few years. The story revolves around Natsuki Subaru being transported from Earth to a new world and he is granted one simple power: "Return By Death". Subaru must use this newfound power to save those he cares about, such as Emilia, Rem, Ram, Petra, Otto and Garfiel and more.
Who is Satella and why did she grant subaru this power? What is the motivation behind the witch cult which have members such as Petelguese the sin archbishop of sloth? These are some of the questions I'll tackle on this channel, I hope you enjoy it and most importantly also enjoy season 1 and season 2 of Re: zero and hopefully it does well enough to warrant a third season covering arc 5 (Season 3 re: zero).

This video's kinda misleading lol. The scene's point is this is a *deliberate* attempt by Echidna to manipulate Subaru to take control of him. This is the true beginning of Kasaneru Subaru. Unlike the WN version, the LN makes it very clear Echidna's a monster and is manipulating him. It basically presents her as some grand evil you DON'T want to associate with. (In addition, Echidna doesnt even feel any of the pain.) Tappei made this to show Echidna is the manipulator/abuser, not the other way around. It's pretty much the most vital scene in terms of showing Subaru's descent. Here are also some things Tappei has said: -Tappei has said all the witches are rotten inside. -He says Echidna's personality is as rotten as Capella's (dwell on *that:* Capella is meant to be the scummiest sin archbishop, with Regulus, additionally, being the least sympathetic according to him). -Tappei joked about how seeing Echidna with a smug face makes him want to hit her. -The way he talks about her in some Q&As is definitely not flattering with, in one, Tappei going out of his way to tell a fan to not end up like her. So, yeah, despite what some people think, Echidna is written to be a very scummy person lol. It's really not that hidden.

Pandora and her people are basically the most secret organisation among the cult. Echidna had her own problems during her era, so she couldn't do anything. Even if she could, she would not as Volcanica yeeted her. Also, Theresia died after stride war, so Echidna was basically non existent. Theory: I think that Echidna knew she was going to be possessed by her own greed, that is evil Echidna. Volcanica figured this out and sealed her because it would be end of the world if evil echidna took over.

Lye's fighting style is like assassin and has a vibe of Gyutaro's fighting style, which is physical and can't work on serpent. Reinhardt can destroy Serpent, given that 1) 100% win if Reid Sword works. 2) 100% win if Sword Play of Astrea is able to destroy the serpent (most likely it will because it worked on killing Puck and Puck should be stronger than serpent.) 3) Might win if he has a large aoe divine protection.

Remember she doesn't feel pain and is immune to humiliation, so the whole "sacrificing oneself for the other" theme that happened in that scene is moot. in my opinion, I don't think it matters if the person is male or female. what matters is if he has gone past his breaking point to a place where it's easy to ignite his triggers. Subaru cannot handle emotional/psychological pain or trauma. if he can't deal with the trauma he will hurt himself repeatedly because physical pain feels better than emotional pain for him. however, if someone tramples on his emotional triggers (things said or actions carried out that provoke his fight or flight response) it will make him lash out aggressively and sometimes violently. you see this a lot on mental illness circles. violent aggression is a typical response when someone can't handle their emotional state. Arc 6 gives us clear examples of this. assuming Rem is a trigger for Subaru, anyone who doubts he's loyalty or commitment towards her will immediately trigger an aggravated response from him. When Subaru, Ram, and Anastasia were trapped in the ungrounded tunnels, Ram began berating Subaru by saying he didn't care about Emilia or the others. What pushed him over the edge was her saying that he didn't really care about Rem either. though the witches miasma exasperated the situation, things really took a violent turn with Subaru first. he lashed out and targeted Ram as the object of his emotional trauma (the trauma in this case is his inability to save Rem) and wanted her to physically feel what he felt emotionally. this led to him trying to kill her. later, when Subaru had amnesia and was stuck in a death loop, in order to avoid the psychological trauma of not knowing who was trying to kill him, he attempted to flee the watch tower. When that was no longer an option, he decided to kill everyone in the tower to end the cycle of death because he couldn't figure out who kept killing him. lastly, when he finally realized who was behind his death loop, he blacked out and killed her for all the emotional damage she'd put him through over and over again. I think that if Subaru cannot internalize his emotional and psychological trauma by hurting himself, he will hurt the person he believes to be the cause of it all. we even get a glimpse of this in season one when Subaru fought with Julius. the physical pain that Julius inflicted on Subaru was nothing compared to how emotionally damaged he was and thus he couldn't concede the fight until he'd inflicted some type of physical damage to Julius. I don't think it matters if the person is a woman or not, Subaru has deeply ingrained emotional trauma and will hurt himself or others in order to illeviate the pain.

From her own point of view she is just satisfying her innocent curiosity of pure knowledge, right? Wrong, she knowingly leads him to dangerous situations whether is kills him or not. From the very beginning she only cared for the thing called 'return by death' and didn't care for the person called 'subaru'. She is not human anymore but it doesn't mean she is exempted to do inhumane acts especially if she wants to mingle with the humanoid/mortal society. In terms of a combination padlock she is bruteforcing the problem rather than solving it efficiently, this won't kill subaru in its truest meaning but it definitely kills his psyche and/or humanity to the point that he basically became a heartless monster. In a real-world scenario she has done something that is akin(or much worse) to what mad scientists would do to their experiments. Yes they can be imprisoned but these types of people are relentless to their goals and locking them up is nothing for them. They could manipulate others and bring themselves to freedom if they are given the chance. It is easy to form opinions but hard to form solutions, if truly are against killing then you also have the responsibility to do your best and formulate an ideal method for your 'ideal solution'. I'm sorry, not even the trials of sanctuary kept Echidna in check so how you suggest to imprison her? Then again this is fiction. Reality is not always purely black and white.

no, you've got it completely wrong. let me explain, in season 2 if you do a deep analogy of Echidna's words and actions, you'll see that she had always always been trying to manipulate Subaru. here in the greed if too, she manipulated him into beating her(i mean just read the text jakez provided, it's disgusting). Echidna knows that Subaru isnt the kind of person who will beat another person like that, so after he has done the deed, he will feel extreme guilt(as can be seen, he started smashing his head), and this guilt(added that Echidna still provided warmth after having so much done to her) would make him feel like all the pain and suffering he goes through in the real world is deserved. and this mindset is ideal for Echidna to gain more knowledge. Subaru would've lashed out at anyone, be it either a man or a woman, if he was manipulated like that so i believe he isn't the one to be blamed here.

apart for the disturbing infos, we still get to know for certainty that inside echidna dream castle pain can be felt but death doesnt exist. so killing someone in there has no meaning. so for example, subaru couldnt really suicide as we see him doing in arc4. its also interesting to know how echidna does have emotions and that she can easily ignore them as well as pain, which is probably a trait common for witches. i mean, even sin archbishops showed high resistance to pain after all.
