Freitas's style is played beautifully with consistent high arc shots, his every shot requires big movements. His backhand is very similar to Timo Boll, the difference is that he plays better at long distance and slower tempo than Timo Boll, Boll can counter hit off the bounce shots more than Freitas can, Freitas usually wait for the ball longer to counter the shots. The reality of Table Tennis is that you need all speed/spin/power to be the best and not just spin, the Chinese can easily counter Freitas and Timo's spin focused style. Someone like Xu Xin probably have everything that Frietas is good at

Dan isn't a pro. Dan at his best was ranked around 60 in England(which is a really good standard,however Dan still was never good enough to be pro.)Anyone who plays table tennis professionally is at least top 10. I know players who are better than Dan, but have regular jobs or coach. Due to injury Dan wasn't able to practice, as a result his playing standard fell. Currently if Dan probably plays around top 250-200 england standard which is very far from pro.
@epic1053
@epic1053 6 жыл бұрын
I consider a pro someone who can make a comfortable living off of purely table tennis with out having to coach or have a side job. Maybe you're using a different definition to me? Dan would be around 2350 in the US at his best making him ranked around 160th in the US. www.experttabletennis.com/converting-usatt-ratings-uk-rankings/ I highly doubt the 160th seed in US plays table tennis professionally. To play professionally you usually need to be able to play in a top European league, in the highest division, such as in the german league, belgum league, french league. Sometimes the second division such as in the french league and german league is enough to get a salary, but these leagues are extremely competitive and the amount you will earn isn't alot. Darius knight is ranked number 8 in england and a couple of years ago he played in the second division in france meaning he barely plays to professional standard. Most people playing in British league at the highest division don't even earn a decent salary, the better players might earn a match fee of a couple of hundred a match which could equated to 4000-5000, if they play alot of matches over a season. Weaker players might have their travel paid and that's it. A coach at my club was ranked 17th in england(would be ranked around 2550 in the US) and he still worked a normal job during that time. A ranking off 2600+ is more likely to be pro which would make you top 20 in the US.

Oxford definition of a professional: Engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as an amateur. Cambridge definition : Used to describe someone who does a job that people usually do as a hobby Anyone is considered professional once they earn a salary directly from said sport, regardless of ranking, I was using ranking to show that Dan isn't good enough to be pro by comparing his ranking to a typical pros. Someone ranked 500+ in football can be pro provided they make an income. There is more money in football so obviously there is more football professionals. Ovtcharov makes very good money from table tennis. Anyone with a world ranking better than 100 will. Could you provided me evidence of Ovtcharov saying he barely makes an income? Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Bollgot paid $16000 per match in the Chinese super league. I wouldn't be suprised if Ovtcharov makes a million or more a year. source: www.sportsflu.com/table-tennis/earning-table-tennis-player/
@epic1053
@epic1053 6 жыл бұрын
I literally sent you the definition of professional according to Cambridge and oxford... Obviously, that matters more than your opinion on what professional is.... your opinion is that anyone who enters tournaments is pro, which is stupid since literally anyone can enter tournaments, basement level players regularly do. I'm going to assume that your opinion is actually that anyone that plays table tennis to a decent standard is professional, which again differs from that actually definition that has been established. You can't just make up your own definition for a word. The literally definition of A professional depends on whether or not someone makes an income from said sport. I agree that Dan is a excellent table tennis player, but by definition he is not professional. Secondly, There is no contradictions I have stated very clearly the definition of a pro, being someone who makes an income from said sport. I am extremely passionately about Table tennis(I play table tennis in the highest county division where there are 5 divisions, i've played since I was 15 and i'm currently 21.)However it's a hard fact that there is less money in table tennis compared to football, and therefore less opportunity to become professional. This does not mean that I consider table tennis trash. Table tennis has many great aspects, an amateur table tennis player has greater longevity than say a football player. Honestly i'm still waiting for evidence that Dimitrij Ovtcharov said that be barely makes an income because I know for a fact that you just made that up.

Like, watch, comment :D 92 grams?! Wow, the heaviest I've found was an 88g Freitas ALC. I bought one as my ersatz blade. I am still playing with my 92g Maze Off. It's the best blade I've ever had in my hands. The Freitas ALC feels almost identical to my Maze. My old Maze feels a little bit softer, but as Marcos said, it's because of all the sweat that went through the handle into the wood and the outer veneer is also a little stiffer on the new one, because I glued my old one a lot more obviously. "The new Michael Maze blade can be produced with my name on it". It's funny when people think they can feel a difference between "the" Maze and "the" Freitas, because they just renamed it. The only difference is the handle and the design on it. Obviously every blade feels different, because it's made of a natural material: wood. I like the signature shot of Michael Maze Marcos played there, the backhand sidespin :D
