Finally, after years of waiting and thousands of requests we are reviewing The Butterfly Timo Boll ALC, with none other than the legend himself Timo Boll. In November we were lucky enough to visit Borussia Dusseldorf to film the review using their unbelievable facility, where Timo Boll trains and represents his club in the German Bundesliga.

It reminds me of that Ma Long had used Timo Boll ALC for a few months in 2011.During that time, ML's shots were fast and spinning but quite mechanical.

Fantastic video! I've had a crap week but this made my day. Thanks Timo! I have a ALC and found it a little too fast, but I loved the handle so much that I went out and bought a TB ZLF. I might be ready for the ALC again one day but the handle is fantastic.

This is my favourite Blade I bought it in butterfly store Berlin and the people we're very nice

I'm sure it's a good blade, but it just seems difficult to justify getting a blade this expensive unless you are a really high level player because you can get perfectly good blades for a third of the prize. Edit: Well, as you yourself say, not recommended for beginners! A great blade for serious advanced players!

I just bought this blade. I tested one and the spin I got was far higher than anything I've used before, including my Super ALC. Can't wait to try it with T05 both sides and play like Timo!

Have played 4 times with my new Boll Alc. Have to say I love it and it's far more controllable and spinny than the Super Alc. Has lifted my game significantly!

timo: the blade is releasing the ball very quickly.. (2:23) dan: blade offers incredible dwell time (4:40) so now telle me how a blade can have both incredible dwell time and release the ball very quickly :D no hate, but basically almost all reviews are just how the blade or rubber have positie attributes even if they pretty much contradict eachother. They are also never really compared to other products so if they did not tell the name of the product they are reviewing it would be virtually impossible to difference them just from the review.

Also Dan hitting many net balls and outside tables while Timo returning everything and the comment is “as you can see, Timo has a very easy time countering my spin”. Yeah, I don’t think it’s the blade though lol.

Harry Law, I tried it out today, definately has more spin and a little less speed than my Hadraw SR w/ 80fx ... The ALC feels real nice. I am not nearly as good I should be to take advantage of either setup... but the ALC seems like a great setup

I play with the Timo Boll ALC straight handle and Bluefire M1/M3 max. The blade plays just the way you describe it. I do not have any issues with it being too fast. Great spin, versatility and control. I recently got the Zhang Jike ALC with the straight handle and it fits my hand better. The ZJ ALC is an awesome blade too. I have T05 FH and T80 BH 2.1 mm Can you please review it? I like it a little better.

What's the weight of Timo's blade? I've heard pros like to use heavy blades that are 95 grams and up. It would be interesting if you could ask them for us regular people. I've played w/heavy blades and they hit harder but afterwards you can feel sore.

You stand too close on return of serves, you don't back far enough up after serving, you don't get on the balls of your feet with your grip right before the second bounce of your serve, you don't burst early enough on your loops, you don't take chances as much as possible with location, you don't think enough moves ahead, you open up way too far left on your forehand because you like the feeling, but you get countered far right because you don't expect the absolute best placement in return even on your better shots. You also don't make micro-adjustments with your feet and hips as early and as fast as possible. You don't create enough of a C-shape with your body on your serve. You don't stay disciplined on the serve either. You open up as you make contact. You should stay closed in a C-shape until after you get all the way through your serve. Then, you need to burst and get to the right distance and on your toes doing small movements with your feet. These are what you need to go to the top levels
