I am very, very interested to hear Regine sing this song now at 49 yo. Maybe this coming Christmas of 2019? She's a very different singer now after losing her voice once and undergoing vocal changes that come with age. I read a lot of comments saying Regine has no emotion while singing it. Well, the thing about music is that emotion is conveyed through sound delivery. Facial expression and gesture are just contributory factors. If you close your eyes and listen to her rendition, that's where you will feel the emotion. Not many singers can make sound express emotion so effectively without the aid of facial expression and gesture. Think of it this way: when a singer records a single, more ofter than not she focuses on the technical aspect of the song because even the tiniest of mistake could ruin the whole record. She leave aside emotion and gesture to concentrate on perfecting sound delivery. And yet when you listen to the finished piece you feel the emotion in it, and that's why you get drawn to it. You didn't need facial expression and gesture to help you relate to the song. Isn't that what music really does? Then again, this is a stage performance and not a recording so I'm with in saying she should have complemented her rendition with a little bit of visage.

Agree to this and actually when Regine was young she was so emotive and full of hand gestures and facial expressions when she started coz she was used to it during her competition days, but when she reached her late 20s to 30s she deliberately changed her style to become the power belter who could sing looking relaxed, easy, unaffected and nonchalant while belting out songs and featuring her vocal powers to express her emotions while all other divas are so physically expressive. She took her relaxed look further by sitting on a chair, on a couch, on the floor while belting and using only limited hand gestures or sometimes just facial expressions which conveys how easy her belted song was. That became a unique style for a singer at that time and it became Regine's trademark kaya many fans would react na humikab lang, ngumiti lang, pumikit lang, parang wala lang pero bumirit na 😊

Your point, however, does not discredit Mariah in anyway because her lipsyncing, is completely understandable and legal. Normally, you can't achieve the standard you perfected in the studio. Mariah is more than just lipsyncing.
