My mother used to wake us kids up in the wee hours of the morning. She would come into our rooms and say, "come on, wake up, we have to head out in a few minutes. Grab a couple of toys and we will have some toast and jelly and then we have to go". She would have the car completely packed, like this ladys car. She would pack all the pillows and blankets on the back floorboards to make it level with the back seat and that is where we would all sleep. My brother and I at one end, and my mother at the other. We would sleep in rest areas. I can't tell you how many trips to California, we made. My mother was a survivor for sure.

We need to start considering the Golden Girls lifestyle! One really nice big 5th Wheel with 2 or 3 rooms and share the RV LOT RENT usually about $600 month which would be $200-$300 month as roommates. We could still keep our vans but have a permanent home for things like medical needs or just rest from the nomad life! I'm very interested in doing both but would love to have at least (2) roommates! I'm working on my van at the moment and I've also lived at a nice RV resort but can't really afford the RV LOT alone. I'm in Florida outside of Tampa near Plant City if anyone is interested! Please let me know. You could still travel as much as you like as often as you like but having a home base for things like a permanent address and a place to come home, sounds like a much better option. Some of us do not have families or children to fall back on. We could even do like a seasonal share to limit the cost of monthly lot rent.

@@sheliafalgout5043 So much to think about, and they'll drive you crazy with solicitations when you turn 65 for 'insurances' that can go with Medicare. So, if I may.... I have been watching a lot of nomad videos and one thing I like for the emerging group is the idea of those who can, owning land. Having an address is important when you're out and about out there, and if you own a home now, I'm thinking it would be a natural transfer to land you can occupy and also have friends occupy. Since my house is in a tourist town, I'm contemplating Air B&B for my place, which changes the income scenario. I have a 1969 Airstream Globetrotter - but also a horse to care for, so may not nomad it. Still learning a lot about what I 'need' from y'all.

This video is one that will push me to plan and then move on into actually doing it. I am 68 and have planned to plan to plan - and never do or complete anything. It is no way to live - in fact it isn’t living, it is merely existing. I have just now set a date for June 2024 to have gotten a van and go to one of these meetups. Rub the tonic water or how is it used? What about the ivory soap; just place it there or have to put it in a specific place?
@noglenogle
@noglenogle Жыл бұрын
@@annc5298 Doctors used to prescribe quinine to treat leg cramps. In fact, quinine used to be sold over the counter for this purpose. The dose of quinine that many doctors prescribed was 200 to 300 mg. The Food and Drug Administration banned the use of quinine for leg cramps more than a decade ago. That’s because some people are extremely sensitive to this bitter drug. It can trigger rare but potentially life-threatening blood and immune-mediated reactions. The FDA has not banned quinine from tonic water. The amount you would get from half a small bottle would be around 10 mg. Many doctors would probably call this a homeopathic dose. But we think the bitter taste of quinine could be triggering special receptors in the mouth, throat and stomach. Stimulation of these TRP channels can help nerves overcome muscle cramps. Even a small dose of quinine might be helpful. Many other readers have also shared success stories with tonic water against nighttime leg cramps. Also stay well hydrated. As far as the soap just place at your feet unwrapped while you sleep. NO IDEA why this works but It worked for me and I know two different family's who swear by this for two generations. It sure won't hurt!

I've traveled the country for 7 weeks at a time and am anxious the first night anywhere, unless very familiar. I appreciate Shelia's transparency about her first night and day. It is very refreshing. I've watched this episode several times and each time, hear and see something I missed! Her ideas have reminded me so much of what I use at home or for travel that I could have been using for camping! I've taken notes this time, I'll surely remember as I am planning my build and camp hosting. Thank you Jan, for yet another great interview!

I want to say that I’ve been through several hurricanes and everything I have purchased for camping came in handy for Hurricane Ida, she was a beast and I was glad I bought what I bought for camping. I do not regret one purchase cause if something I purchased was wrong at least it led me to the next right one!! lol if that makes sense! But thank u so much for responding!

Bless her sweet heart ❤️. I'm glad she fought thru it and went too. Now if I can just start buying my stuff and get out there. I bought my mini van but the anxiety And being afraid of the unknown is so very true. Her van looks really nice. Looks like she thought of everything and I have been watching videos and making my list. I enjoyed this tour very much.

Love her! I use the pellets of the wood I don't even need to use something for the urine because the wood soaks it right up makes it completely easy to throw out. If you're low income you'd qualify for Obamacare.

I'm glad for you that you found out for yourself that there's such a sense of accomplishment after you've pushed past the fear of the unknown. I know my first solo overnight would have been my last if I would have gone back "home" when I felt anxious. The more I've done it, the better I've felt about it :) Congratulations! See you down the road ... God Bless P.S. ... Love the CD case idea for storing charging cables in one place! I'm going to use that one, for sure :)
