Thank you Adam Panagos, you have a great ability of simplifying and explaining things; If you cant explain something to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself. Einstein would be proud! :)

Great video explaining frequency scaling, relationship between filter order, pass band and stop band frequencies and gain, and calculation of cutoff frequency in Butterworth filters.

I was reading Sedra/Smith and they included a fudge factor epsilon that made this more painful than it had to be, but after watching your video series it really cleared things up. Your presentation is top notch, Thank You!

I'm sorry, but when you say that you're going to use algebra to solve the equation (4:40 min) I couldn't follow your calculus. Is there any video which I could watch to understand it better? Thank you and congrats for this fantastic job!
@AdamPanagos8 жыл бұрын
At the 4:40 mark you're talking about how I simplified the 20log10() quantity? That's really not calculus, it's just properties of logarithms. We have 20log10(x/y) = 20log10(x) - 20log10(y). Since log10(1) = 0, that results in 0 - 20log10(y). Similarly, if we have 20log10(x^(1/n)), by properties of the logarithm this is (1/n)20log10(x). Hope that helps. Adam

Thanks for the kind words; I'd love to get a Chebychev video series made as well, just haven't had the time yet. Best!

What's the difference between the passband frequency and the cutoff frequency? I'm having trouble finding an answer that differentiates the 2

Please tell how to do this for a bandpass filter. I have the equation but I can't scale it 😭
