Great cars. I owned a Guards Red mk1 CS, 10 years ago. Superb car. I’m now back in a 996 mk2 GT3. Equally as good and I love it. They’re all great. To anyone thinking of owning one, get one bought!

Never understood the hate on the lights. Maybe it is everything else on the car that compensate, but it was and still is such a nice looking car.

If they were still $50 or $60k, I would. Now at ~$100k, it's still a fantastic GT3, but the Turbo can be had for ~50k and is probably the smarter buy. It would only cost $50k to get a regular C2 and swap in GT3 suspension and a newer Boxster/Cayman 4.0 engine.

I have the Biarritz White GT3 Mk1 Clubsport ( only RHD one in Europe) , it is truly amazing, the right size, the right power for normal roads, it has antilock brakes a full roll cage and a fire extinguisher… proper analogue Porsche. Huge fun. Beautiful proportions, elegant rear wing, delightful stance on the road. If you have one I highly recommend you set the suspension to those setting recommended by Roland Kussmaul… really brings the chassis to life and perfect for both road and track use.

The compact size of early 911's makes driving on UK roads so much more pleasurable , like people in the UK , cars have all got really fat...and the roads haven't. 3 years ago you could pick up a very good one for £60k , now they're £90k!

Fantastic cars. I had a speed yellow 996.1 GT3 Club Sport for 12 years and was by far the best car I've owned. Epic car especially after I had the Manthey K400 upgrade. Only car I didn't loose money on though they've gone up in value since I sold mine 6 years ago. Really miss that car.

@@mafiamada let’s know how you are getting on with yours. Currently seating in a 993 lightweight I love to bits and I keep looking at the 996GT3. But I’ve invested a little fortune on my 993, I worry about being let down after coming from a 997 previously

Mk1 996 gt3 is the purest gt3 out there (specially the EU cars since they were not drive by wire, USA cars were all equipped with electronic throttle control unlike EU)…. I know a couple of guys that own most Porsche gt models, and the one they always gravitate towards when they want a raw car for the track is the mk1 996 gt3. If I had the money I would 100% buy one of these beautys. P.S. You should buy yours back (;

I had three 996 GT3 Clubsports, modelyear 2001. Many factory upgrades. The rarest GT3 ever made. Only 508 made worldwide. Just about 125 CS…

Two years ago I bought a 996.2 GT3 Clubsport. That car puts a smile on my face, every second I drive it. It feels like everything is coming together. As you say there are much faster cars around but do they feel better? Also it is a dream on twisty, narrow mountain roads. I can only encourage petrol heads to buy one - but only when you drive it, don‘t put it on display as a garage queen.

@@redlinemagazine The 0-60 time is 4.6 seconds it’s actually faster then you mentioned after the edit. The 0-62 time is 4.8 seconds.

Why pay $100K for a 996 gt3 vs. say a 2024 Supra for $60-70k? Seriously what am I missing. I have a 996 turbo cab that I love. But I’m debating what next and this question perplexes me

The term motor car/vehicle or using it as a substitute for the word engine predates the electrification of cars by quite some time …

@@redlinemagazine I know , it's also used by our friends in the US which is why we have started using it more recently but back in the day you would always refer to it as " the engine" ...the whole car was a "motor"...especially in Kent and Essex...😆
