I’d never buy single packs online. Too many variables. Could be weighed (not sure if that’s a thing still), resealed, some boxes you can almost guarantee which packs have hits & people will take those and sell the rest, and then the risk of the pack getting lost/damaged in the mail. Much rather just find packs locally

Loose packs pre SV is definitely not the way to go now that everyone is learning you can search packs with a $13 wire pipe power detector without opening them. Gonna be hard to trust the rip and shippers now with this information coming out. Stay away from loose packs period!!

Blisters are awesome! Easy to spot if it's been tampered with and super easy to store. Booster boxes and etb come down to a brittle plastic wrap and the pull rate is more of a wild card with blisters.

I gave it some thoughts on PokePlumber’s mindset and lately I have been buying out cases of Build N Battle boxes when booster boxes are no longer available at the two LCS where I get discounts. Now these boxes are sold out too. Support your LCS and they will take care of you. Loyalty plays a huge role in this hobby.

Booster boxes have some sort of guarantee that you will pull at least some sort of amount of higher end cards. Booster packs all have the same probability from pack to pack. But a booster box as some sense that you will pull an alt art etc.

Did you see the recent video where you can easily scan loose sword and shield packs with a cheap pipe tester from amazon? The broader market may not know about it so there may still be a play there long-term (buying and selling loose packs, not scanning them). Also, I don't know know what vetting these streamers do when they are purchasing loose packs. These things concern me with investing in loose packs. I think loose packs will get hurt long-term where as sealed product will go for a premium because they will be perceived as not searched or tampered with.

I got 12 PE booster boxes at $80-90 each. Back when everyone swore SV era was trash. Got a case of paradox at $480. And almost every other SV era set I got booster boxes at $95-100 each. Including twilight. I got chilling at $72 when it bottomed. Just wish I had bought more at that time but I wasn’t educated or experienced enough yet to buy a larger position. Now I see people hating on anyone with a position in Pokémon. They call us scalpers and say we are what’s wrong with the hobby. I bought it low just as easy as they could have. But they don’t realize anything until prices are to the moon and they have fomo.

Honestly the hassle of selling loose pack lots in the future and people hesitating wondering if they’ve been searched just doesn’t feel worth it to me. Also with the rising price of shipping I’m having a hard time wanting to sell anything worse less than an ETB as everyone expects free shipping nowadays even though it’s expensive. Loose packs is a terrible investment. Never buy them unless they are super duper off, say 80% clearance sale, or a few you mean to open. Even old expensive packs suffer from possible damage. In addition, there is always rumors about the certainty that the pack hasn't been searched in some way. This seems very difficult to flip unless you have a brick and mortar store. Just my opinion, as a random Pokemon enjoyer.

Simple answer really, if everything is expencive, yet keeps going higher, you buy a product that has a bit of demand from SWSH10 onwards and hold it until it's up enough for you to be happy taking the profit

I think its very risky , there are ways to search the packs. Seen ppl beeing able to use metallic detectors to see if the pack has more metal, aka it has a hit in it. That equipment costs 15$... consider this before u invest ppl.

Before I watched the video I was going to guess you would say loose packs or sealed products that are not booster boxes. Similar minds think alike! I did the same play few weeks ago with build and battle stadiums and 3 pack blisters for fusion strike when they were the last items to be sold out on Pokémon Center UK. Holding them now as the prices per pack haven’t reached close to Booster box per pack price yet. I did the maths and looked at evolving skies as a benchmark and saw that the three pack blister per pack was around 10% lower than booster box and then decided this was a good play.

There is still a lot of opportunity with some various ETBs and the sleeved single packs. I know the price is high on Sword and Shield booster boxes but it’s still going to go up. Look at all the crappy Sun and Moon sets and look at those booster box prices. Evolving Skies is a 2-3k a box, Chilling and Fusion will be $1-2k a box and everything else minus maybe Battle Styles will be $800+ in 2 years. I’m not selling my Evolving Skies, Fusion or Chilling positions until they 2x what they are now. Sealed Pokemon has always been free money on a 3-5 year hold. Been doing this for 12 years now.
