First they were “Pro Top Line” from New Zealand, then they changed their name to “Pro Action” they made the castings for Engine Quest or “EQ” for a short time, they went out of business and finally Comp Cams bough the casting and sells them as RHS but nothing has changed in the design. I used to sell the Pro Top Line Heads back in the 90s and still have some pairs of cast iron for sbc 200 and 220 fully CNC runners and chambers new in boxes which they only produced at the beginning and stoped because it was too expensive to CNC cast iron.

@@cuttersperformance I wasn't quite sure about the port design of the EQ head you reviewed because I didn't hear you talk about it. the part numbers i remember as i have a downloaded EQ catalog in one of the old computers at my momma's :o) pertain to runner size, intake style , and valve cover style, there were mixes and matches of every kind. So a regular intake for a vortec head, with center bolt valve covers and a different runner size or a head with both style valve covers , large runner and valve, with vortec intake, or even both style intakes. like i said and there were imca or ursa or whatever heads for racers that meet requirements for different rules, so they were in the game of a plethora of multi configuration, there was talk online and everyone would say yeah they are great if you want iron, why get iron when you could have aluminum. etc. They are great heads i know, and i used to study the flowbenches on them with other heads, they just didn't get on top soon enough, people were afraid to try anything different than dart or gm. When EQ is really better in my opinion. They are still out there. Wish someone would get the casting and equipment and start producing the tons out of them. RHS makes them today maybe ask them.

They are! Over the past 25 yrs...the cast head market is just copies of some of the original designs and even cast in the same factory. Dart was one of the original companies to do this. Shortly after that...world broke apart from dart. And then 20 other companies got into the game. RHS, profiller, trick flow, blue print, top line, and brodix have all produced these heads. EQ became a conglomerate of all these into one. They just change names as businesses buy them out. What you have are the original variant of the dart 220 head they used for the entire dart line. 180, sportman II, 220, 225, and later for the pro 1 235 head. When world split with dart. They took the 180, 200, 225 head designation with them. Even the merlin bbc w exhaust port varient too. Pro top line and RHS where short lived campanies while they sold these. About 5 years for each. After 2015...they out sourced production of EQ heads once again and are now low end castings. The small block mopar greatly benefited from EQ heads. The casting are really thick and dont crack as easy as factory.

If anyone is interested in a set of these heads that are 200cc runner with 49cc chamber contact me. They have minor repair work on 1 cylinder and only have a couple nights of racing on them since new so the guides are in perfect condition. They are finished and ready for assembly.

? Can you get the EQ chamber down to 64 cc. And if so how much would you have to take off to be safe. I run the 062 with 0.16 Exhaust. No port work works great. I also have a set of 906 with big valves. Doesn't have port work. Except just at the opening of the intake runner just rounded the outer edge. My ? Is would I benefit using the bigger value heads over the stock heads with o.16 Exhaust.
@cuttersperformance3 жыл бұрын
Check my video on 2.02 vortecs vs stock, will answer your questions And you might be able to get them down to 64 but if the block is deck already to your going to have issues with intake alignment for sure

Its was just some recent flow data I had, no meant to be a shoot out but just more of a comparison. Dart makes some great heads but I did expect abit better flow out of the 180s. Maybe I will have to try to get my hands on a set of 220s. Would be a interesting comparison 🤔 Cheers!

Must be something EQ discontinued, I was looking on Ebay for these heads. Looks like EQ doesn't make any SBC heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. They make some stock replacement vortecs, even 87-95 hybrid with vortec chambers. The only thing I found that was similar was EQ 350i SBC 178cc S/P 76 Cc. It seems all EQ heads only use 1.94/1.50 valves in the SBC flavor. There was also some IMCA USRA heads by EQ, couldn't see any #s under valve cover but had SR-T cast where T is cast in these heads and CH350I stamp on end. Still only with 1.94/1.50 valves. If you do find out where we could get some of these heads, please let us know? Thanks, very interesting.

@@cuttersperformance 😆 Cool, though I'd probably have to sit and watch from the sidelines in a sense. I'm no good at picking parts which is why I've not pulled the trigger on building a spare 350 for my 86 GMC K2500 or a spare 454 for my 85 Chevy C30 dually. All I know to go with for sure in both cases is a dual plain intake that will work with the Q-Jets I have on both engines. Gonna be an interesting series to see though.
