I just bought a SNXS 77 for exactly the reason you talk about here. I love it completely out of proportion to its ludicrously low price. It looks as good as a watch many times more expensive. And it keeps good time!

I was lucky enough to jump on the SKX before the priced balloned, but missed the Sarb and Alpinist, but I do think there are great alternatives, especially this Seiko 5, maybe not such a great spec, but for looks and choice the rabbit hole is deep with this range

2:00 I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of these via Long Island Watch. I got the Japanese release (mentioned on the dial, left to the 6 o' clock). When worn, this basic automatic (non-hacking) runs about 3 seconds slow over the course of 5 days. I own automatics between 100€ and 700€ and not a single one of them comes close to this one in accuracy. I heard/read the Malaysian version (the one featured in your video) would be a little less accurate, but still. If there's one thing I regret, then it's not having bought a SARB033 when they were still at the acceptable price of 350€. Couldn't agree more on your assessment. They are, I've experienced 4 different old Seiko 5 models now. Every single one has been an absolute joy, as you said, great watches!

@@TopTierTicker Be careful. You may start to lose your mind. I have 3 different old Seiko 5s and I swear Seiko has built in the same personality that you see on the dial. My SNK809 is very steady and keeps good time due to its military styling. My SNK375 is always running fast because with its deep black dial with snappy red stripe it thinks it's a gauge out of a 1960s sports car. And my beautiful silver dial SNKK87 is a spoiled little diva. She will keep good time while being worn, but seems to have almost no power reserve when taken off.

Seiko in my opinion is way way way better than Rolex..... I own two rolexes and I prefer my Seiko 5 it's actually a man's watch it's a 37 mm but it fits my wrist perfect it's got a silver dial that I love to wear with leopard skin and that bracelet on there just works so good for me I can understand if somebody has a hairy arm and maybe it does pull arm hair but for a woman this is like the ultimate fit !!!!it is just awesome!!

I deliberated the same question for months before I ordered the 45. I was really disappointed at how small these watches are. When I opened the package when I got it I was shocked at the size. The videos make them look a lot bigger. I am average wrist size also.

What's all of the hype about concerning the 23? What about the snkl45, for example? Is the 23 just much better for some reason?

Absolutely nothing wrong with the other SNKL models, Almost identical in DNA. For me, it's the classic aesthetic of the 23 that sets it apart. A lot of the other SNKL models are a bit dated in design and simply don't look as classy or expensive as the 23. Just my opinion

there is also another White Dial version of this same watch with some golden tone hands whatever . i cant remember the model name. it is exactly the same except it is in pure WHITE dial (same lined pattern too ) . but it may not be available outside Asia . i am in Singapore. saw that in some retail stalls some years ago around 2017 or so. the prices of this watch (black version ) has NOT increased after the hodinkee article..... really still able to get this pre owned around 120 to 180 Singapore / Aussie Dollars . i bought one black version some years ago but soon sold it as it seems too small although my wrist isnt that big at 6 n 3/4 inch wrist .... i dont know why.... maybe lug to lug too small.... i wear Rolex 34mm OP date but i dont find that too small but this indeed feel small on my wrist so i sold it .

I'd probably go SNXS79. The lug gap on the SNKL23 becomes very annoying and too large after a while of owning it.

For me, the SNXS79 and its sisters (SNXS77, 75, 73), and the SNKL41 and its sisters (SNKL 43, 45) are more legendary in looks. A good number of YTers have also highlighted these two series/lines. I'm not so hot about the vertical lines in the SNKL23 that sort of creates a sector dial effect. But hey, to each his own.

Other low cost Seikos that have beautiful dials are any watches that have the SGE prefix. These are quartz models with steady and precise second hands, many with sapphire crystals and 100M WR. They usually cost less than $100. Nobody wants to review or know about them.

I've had issues with 2 Orient watches now Orient ray 2 bezel very difficult to turn and Orient kamasu bezel won't turn at all. My Orient kano and seiko 5 Sports bezel work fine.

This is far from the best Seiko 5. The SNKL43/41 are both better looking watches. That’s just the beginning. The lugs are too pointy and it has huge strap gap. You guys are weird
