I'm just starting as a photographer since I recently finished my 1-year diploma course and I love your content! I have a Sony A-6400 with its basic kit lens (18-135mm), a telephoto kit lens (55-210mm) and a prime macro lens (30mm f3.5) and so far, the one I use the most is the basic kit lens for portraits and landscapes and even dog photography. But probably my favorite one is the macro lens. I don't use it as much as the other two but with that lens I've taken the most impresive pictures that I've taken in my life and I also really love macro photography (from nature to water drop photography). That macro lens (SEL30M35) is so sharp, it has like zero distortion and very little shading and it's super portable with a solid build quality. I'm thinking about getting a nice prime lens for portraits, but I'm still doing my research about it and this video really helped me because now I'll be able to find which focal length I use the most after analyzing my previously taken photos. Thank you!

made an excel from all my photo's focallenghts the way you explained. from 2009 till now. Very interesting. 50mm on DX. now i have 2 primes on Mirrorless. 35 1,8 and 85 1,8 and i use the 85mm 51,54% of the time and the 35mm 27,3% of the time to be exact :D

I may not have a lot of experience to answer this one with Prime lenses, but so far my favorite lens is definitely the 70-200 f/2.8, and my favorite focal length is the 200mm f/2.8. There's just so much depth of field you can't get with a phone at anything above 100mm, and 200mm is my favorite focal length because of the depth of field. I do have my eyes on Sigma's 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 though, for wildlife and plane spotting purposes

I did exactly this with my own photos a short while ago. I learned that I shot the majority of my photos in the 17-30mm range, on my Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 lens. This lens, although it has been great for me for a good number of years, isn't the sharpest lens overall, so I went ahead and upgraded to the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 instead, and haven't regretted it since. I also had/have lenses all the way from 10mm to 300mm, so I didn't feel like it was biased by "shoot with what you have" either.

Have that Sigma 17-50 mm F2.8 for nature, portraits and mainly architecture for my work. But was thinking in the Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 DI VC OSD for my canon.

My preferred focal is still 55 to 250 mm. Since that's the first zoom lens that I really got that gave me the biggest amount of reach and with it being on an aps-c camera. The canon m50 mark 2. With it being on that camera it ended up being a 85 to 400 mm winds which honestly allow me to get so much out of my camera compared to just using it with my kit lens. Now I am on the far end of my 24 to 105 and am using the entirety of my 70 - 200 now that I have them

I am still just a beginner. My two lenses are the nifty 50 and the 75-300mm. My favorite by far is the 50mm. I don't have a big budget so I am looking for another lense that can take quality photos without breaking the bank. Any suggestions??

Nikon user here! 😎 But I shoot with my prime 35mm a lot! Love the F1.8 for that bokeh. It’s quick, sharp and lightweight. Recently however I did get a 70-200mm that I’m enjoying immensely.

Most of my pictures and videos are taken on an RF 24-70 f2.8 however I also use my 70-200 quite often. The only lens that‘s not getting much use is my 15-35 it’s mainly a nice to have lens if I need to go wider than 24…

This might be a helpful analysis at first glance, but to be honest, I think there is a small misconception about that kind of statistic. As you mentioned, the utter most pictures where taken at the extreme values of each zoom lens. That could mean: The focus length of you lens was just (good) fitting. Or not: It could also mean, that you would have needed for example like "50 mm" on your "70 - 200". Or if you border at 200 mm: wouldn't be 300 mm also nice? What about that 35 mm? Was that enough reach while using an urltrawide? When does such kind of statistic work? When you had all the time changing your lenses, or you where willing so. Or is your picture/situation "gone" (for example, Street fotography). So all statistics aside, you have to ask yourself: Was my lens choice the right one in this situation or did you need "more/less"?

I'd love to delve into Lr vs LrC but I usually prefer my old Sigma 24-70. I'm trying to upgrade to a Sony body with much more MP density but EOS to E mount doesn't seem to be a common adapter mount. The 18-55 kit Canon kit lens has done me well but I consider the 24-70 to be a work horse. Even in product photography, I still want a bit more focal length to get those cropped shots without sacrificing sharpness. Oddly enough, the Sigma I'm eyeballing for this only comes with EF and Nikon mounts. Odd when you consider how popular Sony has become and the lack of adapter capability has me thinking it'd be better to go with E mount even if I don't have the camera body to support it; at least then, I can get a 70-200 and have all my bases covered. Is this an asinine premise or should I just send it with all this info?

I actually thought that I use most 70-200mm .. but I'm wrong!! By my LR metadata 16-35mm is from far my prefered lens. And the question is: what about the drone?
@ThreeCeeProductions Жыл бұрын
You data is skewed because of the zoom limitations. 70 is what you used because you had a 24-70 lens on. If you had the 24-105 you might have chosen something higher. The same with the 15-35 in reverse. I tried doing it this way but the image quality is so good now on good setups you could use a fast prime and just crop. For events I take my 28-70 and my 135 f2

Bro why? What are the benefits of using multiple catalogs? Not attacking you. Just curious.
@Soul_Visuals_Photography2 жыл бұрын
@@MikeEdwardsphotography helps me stay more organized. I keep my RAW files. Exported jpeg that I delivered to client and the LR catalog all in the same file. As I fill my external drive i offload older photo shoots to a larger external drive for a years time and delete from there. Just how I like doing it. When I did one catalogue per year it was soooooo many photo shoots all clustered into one. I disliked it.

@mikebanks47962 жыл бұрын
I might be making assumptions here but what that data looks like to me is you are just using the longest focal length of your zooms (15-35, 24-70, 70-200). Probably just trying to get the most compression/bokeh. 🤷♂️ I do the exact same thing with my zooms but I wouldn’t trade my 16-35 for a 35mm prime. Zooms are just too convenient.
