buyer beware #102 how not to restore 1930's indian chief lower end restoration repair rebuild motor
this motor came in from another shop because they gave up on fixing it. they could not figure out how to rebuild something that takes common sense and brains to do.
i am doing everything that it takes to make a motor work but not replacing the bad parts. i am just cleaning up everything and clearing the parts so that they will work correctly for awhile. i do not expect this motor to last more then a few thousand miles but it will run very good for a few hundred miles. if you only want a show bike this is just fine. if you want a good rifer bike then this is not how to rebuild a motor. if you wanted to actually ride this bike you would have to replace all of the rust pitted and worn out parts. all the machine and assembly work shown in the video is what is required to get a motor to run correctly. it is up to you on how long you want the motor to last.
as a buyer you need to pay attention on how a motor runs and sounds, not just at how good it looks. it it sounds like a rock grinder, then you are probably getting a motor like this on the inside. a show bike motor, not a rider motor.
at tatro machine we want your motor run fast and last, not just look good.
