Enjoy your stuff. Think this series would be better if you did 50, 100, 200, 300 and high end.... for the individual rods and reels... then we can put together our own combos and decide where we want to break the budget. As it is, I go into the 200 and hope to find 100 rods and 100 reels or 400 to find 200 rod and 200 reel...to build my own combo, but they commonly aren't that price. Just a suggestion.

The reason diawa doesn't want you throwing braid to leader on that rod is because the knot has been knocking the guide insert out. Well that's 1 reason, I know a guy who works for diawa us, and he told me that's a big reason plus it has also been putting micro fractures in the blank causing them to fail.

We have similar tastes for similar reasons, Matt. Being a braid to leader guy has really kept me away from a lot of Daiwa stuff over the years. It’s not because they’re “lesser” than shimano (I have a daiwa spinning combo and it’s great). But they lean so heavily into their t-wing, etc. I just CAN’T bring myself to pick up a bunch of their casting stuff. I’m thinking about picking up a Zillion this year for straight braid on my toad/light frog rig…simply to get a Daiwa into my rotation and see what they’re like long-term. We’ll see what happens as frog season gets closer… EDIT: Completely agree about the last combo…the NRX853 with an aldebaran is a *stupendous* combo. Mine saw a ridiculous amount of use this year.

My only combo in this category is a 7'0" MHF St. Croix Legend Elite with a made-in-Japan Daiwa Zillion SV TW. I use it almost strictly for fishing finesse football jigs on 12 lb fluoro. It is probably my favorite technique, so I splurged. Highly recommend it. I have also been unfortunate enough to break one rod and have the reel seat come unglued on a second and St. Croix's awesome warranty has made replacement so easy and affordable. You should certainly keep this warranty in mind if you are considering a St. Croix. The more expensive the rod you buy, the better value the warranty is if something goes wrong. Edit: Also, have you guys ever tried a Phenix rod? I picked up the Composite X14 for magnum deep divers and the 7'7" XH in their Feather line for punching and have been very happy with them. They are a bit more on the moderate side for all actions so if you like St. Croix, the overall feel is very similar.

Missile Baits Baby D-Stroyer was the ticket today; perhaps you've heard of it. 🤣 . Some amazing gear in this video; I was kind of surprised it ended up leaning so much to the "finesse" side of things, but I think once you reach this rarified air, increased sensitivity is probably the main reason to reach higher up the ladder, and deeper into the pocket. Nice catch by Matt that things were trending that way early on, and a great call to pivot to some power gear at that moment. Matt, You are the jig master, but I don’t understand your jig rod choice. I had the Conquest 905c and it is very stiff and didn’t cast well. I’m surprised the NRX+ 873CRR didn’t make your list. That rod with braid is the best jig rod on the market.

Love these videos, learn a ton. I love how you branch out with multiple brands. Here’s the question: what rods do you own that you have multiple of? I’m sure 6’10” expride , I’m sure 905 cbr. What are the others?

Such a great question! I can't speak for Tim but rods that are important for me to have multiples of are 845cbr, 906cbr, 843mbr, 844mbr, Expride 6'10", 7'3" XH, 7'11" XH, Zodias 7'5" Medium Heavy and Heavy, Megabass Braillist... I'm sure I'm missing some but these are major players in my personal arsenal.

Dang no megabass arms super leggera rods??😆😆 jk those rods have a crazy price tag😂 but I picked up my first couple nicer combos, a megabass jerkbait special, a Diablo spec R, and a tour versatile (got the last one for my dad because he loves fishing so much but he’s only fished with cheaper lews combos and I wanted to get him something really nice so got that rod and paired it with a SLX DC). Thanks for all the great videos and bless y’all and y’alls families!!!

I know you guys don't do many individual product reviews, but I would love to hear more detailed thoughts on the tequila baccarac. Been debating one for a while because I like throwing swimbaits but also like shorter rods.
@txg12752 жыл бұрын
For reference I throw a lot of "small" treble hook baits in the 1-3oz range. Flow glider 130, waver 168, deps 145, gan craft 178, etc.

The Tequila Baccarac is a ton of fun. I think you'd do well with it in those applications. I've latched onto it for larger Flutter spoons and it pins those trebles really well despite all the weight outside the mouth (similar to the issue with hard swimbaits)

@@tacticalbassin thanks so much for the feedback! Glad to hear you think it will be a good fit. Also thrilled to see you guys using some daiwa reels!! If you want a fun rod to try out next year, give the p5 super destroyer a chance. Absolutely incredible rod for skipping and target casting, with an UNREAL amount of power considering it's ultra light weight.

Would you please give a list of Texas rig rod suggestions from budget to high end. Suffered a hand injury and looking for improvement in sensitivity. Thanks.

Anyone hear bad reviews on poison Adrena? I was going to pull trigger yesterday but a few reviews on the TW page has made me worry about them. A few reviews with people snapping these. Are these just one offs? Or is are the new PA having these issues? Which one would you pick, Poison Adrena vs Shimano Expride B? Again thank you for great info and amazing combos. Keep up the great work.

For the price, the Expride punches way above it's weight. If money is not an option, the Adrena is a little more sensitive.

You guys should try the G Loomis 782C MBR 6’6” Conquest casting rod and pair up with the Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS reel (I’d owned the combo/setup personally) fishing for river smallies it’s actually pretty fun
@tacticalbassin2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a blast!!!
@leepao63022 жыл бұрын
@@tacticalbassin even though the 782C is not a dedicated BFS rod, due to it nature and the way it was build with the MBR feature the rod have the rod is soft enough to allow you to cast 1/16oz weight without any problem, because with aid of the BFS reel l, this is within my experience using the combo so far
