If you are finding water troughs DRY every morning, the chances are some of your animals are not getting enough water throughout each day. ADD a couple more troughs. Better to have more water than they need than not enough and having sick animals from dehydration.

Hubby said you need to lower the part going into your truck. An extended probably wouldn't hurt but the issue is that some of those trailers don't have those sides on them. Also take the tail gate off. You need to Clean both those trailers asap with bleach. We never loan or trailers out unless they are clean and they are clean when they come back. You don't want and diseases that could be in that new trailer. At anytime our stock trailer is ready to haul animals or help someone move furniture...its very clean from top to bottom.

Something to check with any trailer is the max weight per axle. I was taught by my Dad to get just a bit more axle than the total weight of whatever you may need that trailer to haul. For example, we have two 7000 pound axles on our 28 foot five horse slant. We have hauled everything in this trailer..the heaviest ended up being wet wood chips. That was a heavy load. Even heavier than 3.5 ton of small bales hay. Just as you wouldn't want to over face your truck, you don't want to overface a trailer. Best wishes.

I think all of your previous animals have yet to get over the time when you no longer lived with them...they got used to all relaxing under the mimosa tree with you , and suddenly you weren't there any more - it's going to take time for them, and then the newbies, to relax back into accepting you and Rae as part of hte herd - It's a bit like getting used to the kids on the patch when you moved house as a youngster - perhaps you stuck in the same school and stuff? They will settle, esdpecially when they can come up and see the house, and be certain that you actually are there, and in their lives again. i have no clues on hitches - good luck with all those who do - Love seeing Matt with his brothers and their different operations; I also love the idea that going to the friends of winners, potentially, You and Rae are so generous ~ to be honest, T find the entire Doss family heartwarming in its generosity with prayers, videos, eggs and all this world's goods - thank you

They make special tail gates for gooseneck it's a v shape. Just be sure to take wide turns when turning into a driveway before pulling straight or you will rip the axles out from under it if there's a post or tree you have to drive in between. This is something my mother did not paying attention to me and my dad telling her to take a wider turn going into a gate she's done it with two trailers me and my dad both rolled our eyes. The easiest truck for gooseneck is a flatbed those are a lifesaver for farm/ranch work. My dad has three one the bed can dump. The newest one came with a bale bed for feeding round bales and the other one is just a plain flatbed. Keep and eye out for farm auctions and classified sales ads get an old good running flatbed truck for farm use it will cut wear and tear on your new truck plus it's a backup plan if one breaks down.
