Howdy from Three Rivers, Michigan. I don't know if this would work for alpacas, but it took about 2 days with my horse. I learned this from a wonderful Mennonite man... Park your (extra) trailer in the field with the door safely propped open. ONLY leave their "super special fun feed" in the front of the trailer...and leave the trailer there. Go back out the next day and put more super fun special feed in there. They will eventually get hungry (and get rewarded). Go out the next day and put the feed in. Hide around the corner. There's a good chance they'll have realized it's not the scary place they think it is and go right in for their "treat." That's your chance to shut the door and drive them away. It takes a little patience, but, in the case of my horse, it worked. He was officially trailer trained. Good luck. I get a lot of crochet projects done watching the whole Doss Family... and now I'm hooked on longhorns. No pun intended.

I've lived on farms and been around animals all my life until 13 years ago, and I still live in the country; wouldn't live anywhere else. You and Rae have such a beautiful place, and you both deserve it after what you've been through. I hope you can enjoy it in good health for many years to come. Never been around alpacas but other critters I've had trouble catching and loading we would start feeding in stock trailer letting that be the only place they can get sweet feed and treats. It worked for hogs, cattle, mules, horses,sheep, and goats.

I am glad Cabella didn’t go with you, even though she loves going all over the new property, the cattle don’t seem to like the dogs. I wonder if maybe you could put mama in the front of the trailer with feed and water and use a panel or divider of the trailer to keep her in there and then leave the back door of the trailer open to lure her into it for a few hours or overnight

I lived in California for a couple years, several years ago.. A friend of ours had a farm of rescue animals, cow's, horse's, birds, assortment of animals, a wild fire got out of control, she had a 1 hour notice to move animals, Alot help her , she got several moved, Yet, she still lost Alot. I now wonder if she had trouble catching some.
