We need base model trucks and I don't mean plastic mirrors. To me base model means: Straight six and a 4 speed auto, bulletproof like the stuff made 20 years ago Stop changing every panel, nut and bolt each year. Reuse parts from 10 years ago. I don't want a backup and forward facing camera. I don't need a sunroof. I don't need 18 cup holders. I don't need a leather wrapped steering wheel. I don't need computer circuits in my tail lights. I don't need a door handle that costs $400 to replace. There are a thousand ways these truck makers can return to a base model F150 that costs 30k. Oh, and BREAK THE UNIONS. Just spank them. often!

I have concluded that our American middle class is disappearing at a rapid rate. The majority of Americans are in a survival mode. My car insurance keeps going up as my property tax too and grocery prices are not coming down except for a few items. Even if they lowered every p/u trucvk by 20 grand to make a 60 grand truck , 40 grand, they still would be sitting. A truck is a truck is a truck. I bought a new '05 Nissan Titan crew cab, the basic work truck model and paid 26 grand. It is well maintained and I will never get rid of it. It is a truck and as long as a truck suits its purpose and runs great, there is no need to sell it and buy a new one. There is nothing a '24 truck can do that my '05 truck can't do. Nothing.

The question I can't get a straight answer on from Chevy, Ford, or Dodge is if I buy a brand new 2021 truck or car off their lot ( right now , 2024) does it still come with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty since those warranties state, whichever comes first. Called several in my area and was told, yes on some, others said it depends on vehicle built date of how much of that warranty is left, others have said no, it's expired because it's pass it's built date. Not that I really would buy any new truck or car with these crazy prices, but the ones that do could be in for a surprise to find they bought a brand new vehicle with no bumper to bumper warranty. That's the new dealership scams going on around here.

I own a 2001 Ford Excursion F-250. It’s a cowboy Caddy. Back in the day I paid $45,000 for the truck. It’s a plush bucket, seats 8 adults with plenty of leg room. I looked at new trucks. Saw the insane prices on the window sticker. I thought I just got struck by lightning. Over the years I’ve kept my Excursion up and I do get a great deal of attention with it. Anyway last year I went totally through my Ford, spent about $20,000. But I own the truck I know this truck and go anywhere a new one could take me, but I drive with class. I figured I just saved myself over $80,000 plus interest for not buying the new junk. Fix your vehicle and keep it, you’ll be happier for it. Let the dealers go to hell in a hand basket. This is what greed will do to the dealerships and they’re not changing.

If people don’t want to pay the price then quit demanding every feature under the sun. Everyone wants heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel. Upgraded wheels and tires. Upgraded suspension and on and on and on but then when they’re told they have to pay for it they throw a fit. I just watched a video by car care nut and he’s 100% right. 20 years ago air conditioning, power windows and locks were an upgrade you had to pay for. Now it’s standard. We have an entire generation that feels entitled to everything and the worst part it’s the same people raising these GenZers to be complete whack jobs who think everything should be given to them. If you want a fully loaded truck then go work for it. Or don’t. The choice is yours but believing your GenX parents when they tell you you’re special and you’re being treated so unfair is the path to nowhere and having nothing.

Aside from genuine work trucks, I see and know a lot of people driving pickups that don't need pickups, they generally don't haul anything besides their kids but they think having a truck is cool, and I agree with them, I like trucks and I think they're cool too, but I wouldn't pay all that money for a truck unless it was working and earning money for me. As much as I like trucks, I will be soon be buying a Toyota Corolla because these days it's just the missus and me and groceries and we just don't need a truck and for the one time in 5 years I need something hauled, I'll just pay the 80 bucks and have it delivered.

Yeah, isn't that a kicker. When I was a kid, things were different. People by and large drove cars and pickup trucks were cheaper than cars because only working stiffs and poor people drove pickups. Now it's the opposite, for some strange reason, pickups have become the ride of the snobby rich and cars are way cheaper. Using my 22 year old car as a trade-in, I'm paying less than 20k for a new Corolla and all those expensive pickups can sit on the lot until they sink into the pavement as far as I care.

Sorry the Big 3, I wouldn't pay over $40,000 tops for a new loaded full size truck now, I have an 2004 Colorado LS with the Extreme package before Chevrolet badged it Extreme in 2005, my truck listed for about $26,500 or so. I happened to work for one of the GM suppliers then & had the supplier discount plus Chevrolet had about $4000 I believe end of sales year rebates or incentives to sale all the 2004 models bc the 2005 were starting to appear on lots. My out the door price was $18,400 & change in September 2005, I still have my Colorado & it looks as good now as it did the day I bought it in 2005, it has a little over 44,300 miles & has been garage kept all it's life. I just bought a 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring last month, what has hurt the GM & Ford the most is they have stopped making cars people can afford, NOT EVERYBODY specially women want a full size truck or SUV. I'm just a guy that retired early at 55 & I didn't want or need another new truck, I was replacing my 2007 Pontiac G5 GT car with another new car, just so happens Honda won my business.

Tundra sales were up but only because they incentivized the crap out of them. I'm sure sales are worse in Canada with the weakened Canadian dollar. Its bad enough with USD with CAD money its insanity pricing.
