Most people can't drop everything, go buy a busted boat and try to figure it out as you go. GOOD LUCK to those that can. That's a Big Money Game. For the rest of us , it's just a dream.

@@ParlayRevival yes but you had a solid base of knowledge to start with, most people will spend tens of thousands to pay others to do it and in the end probably could have bought a better more reliable boat in the end and be sailing it instead of sucking in dust.

@@ParlayRevival that's is what I think is exciting the escape from the normal 9-5 life. I agree anyone could do it out 9-5 you make choices that allow you to live. Only difference is the choices your gonna make to escape and sail are different still life choices none the less. A change in mindset or surroundings and people that give you the boost of confidence to make the choice maybe is needed!

I am not surprised that after all the people you met and talked to. I was excited that you were given a new anchor, can’t wait to see how it works for you. A rarity in this new world of cheap throwaway stuff. And you're not the only one being fed up of stuff made difficult to repair, or parts impossible to get. Ex: My neighbors redid their kitchen 18 months ago with all new appliances. She called me yesterday to ask if I could have some spare space in my 35 y.o. fridge. "??" Their almost new, 4K$ LG fridge broke down. They checked the warranty : One, yes, 1 year warrantee ! 😳 The problem is, people get used to be hacked by big box retailers. And they buy and buy again the same garbage. And it's the same sh..t wiith whatever brand. Madening.

Your humility and honest demeanor in dealing with the public, is a testament to you character. It is no wonder that you would receive such a warm reception. Congratulations on your potential sponsorship, and hopefully you will continue to provide an honest appraisal of the products that are offered. I am an old geezer who has owned only one boat in his LIFE. I bought it because my wife and I were guests (and married) on it in Victoria B.C. Moored at Roche Harbor, on San Juan Island. The CARVER (ancient) Mariner was an early 80's power boat (twin 351 Windsor-Ford V8) that was an absolute $$$ vacuum. And mooring fees were back breaking as well...so alas, she is gone. But if I were 40 years younger, I would probably insist that Annie and I at least entertain the thought of what you are endeavoring to do. But your weekly KZbin adventures give me vicarious enjoyment. Best wishes Mate, to you and all you host and meet in you journey.

I binged watched every episode. Used to build 50m and bigger super yachts. You and your neighbors cats have beams Not sitting in their pockets where the glue failed and/or gaps in the glue. I would glass it to the pocket and the bulkhead. Every time the beam moves up your hull moves in. Every time the beam dips down the hull moves out. This creates an accordion effect and helps flex the glass (bad) and eventually vibrate it apart over time.

@@ParlayRevival weird question that will scratch my curiosity itch....the bulkheads that broke, on the out side smaller sandwich pieces....what was the angle of the cut? More than 45 makes it harder the glass. Less than a 45 degree angle is easier to glass. And can you tell if that piece had a radius on it or is it just an angled jig saw/ban saw cut. I have a feeling it's just a cut. Not been rounded over, creating weak glass bond...on top of not carrying the load correctly.

Glad you showed that quick talk you had with the Patreon about the bulkhead stiffness; that's been bugging me too. (As in too much stiffness) Hope Lagoon has it right this time. (I'm a big fan of James Wharram's catamaran design/engineering philosophy)

Perfect and so good to see you having a good time and getting to meet your fans/patreons to put faces to names. Wish I could have been there but age and finances are an issue. I really loved the message at the end as it was 100% true. Anyone can do this who's health will allow it, age doesn't really matter nor does physical conditioning to a point. Thank you Colin for keeping the dream alive and it helps me as I work towards being able to live my dream someday. Physically I'm getting there and when the day comes I will jump in with both feet because what's the worst that could happen. I fail, well that just means I get another chance to do it right... By the way both the Water Maker and the man behind it as well as that anchor caught my eye and will definitely be on whatever vessel I end up with... Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless.
