Buying a $650 Honda 400ex... Will It Run?

Third Honda 400ex added to the collection.This one is a little rough! While we are rebuilding the other 400ex we can work on this one. I'd use the the bottom end out of this one for the blown up 400 and use the aftermarket muffler for the good 400 along with the Nerf bars off the blown up 400 for the good 400 and whatever left over parts to build a third bike to sell to get back some of the money from all 3 bikes

I have a built 400 myself. Set up for the track. It’s a great bike. Honda’s are the best. The 400EX is a great trail/trial/whatever fun quad.

This one looks like alot of work man! I seen on the oil filter cover bolt was stripped out and re threaded with another bolt so becareful when you put a new filter in it.

It's not even that great of a platform honestly. The pilot and the Odyssey are coo but yerf dog had a better suspension setup. I really want an Odyssey though to put a street bike engine on. That would be wild.

Your never gonna find a fl400 less than 3k not running. Odyssey maybe but certainly not gonna find a good deal on a pilot

Get a fl250 there not as cool but you can get them way cheaper, the ones like mine with a aftermarket cage are cool and fun

Jered Almeida I hear you. We just found a fl400 that’s five minutes from my house. he had it listed for 6000 but we talked him down to 5500 and it came with all the paper work and it doesn’t need anything. But there definitely quality machines. But they suck in trails cause there a 2 stroke and there Cvt driven so it’s hard to keep it in the high rpms So you don’t foul out the plug in the trails. But there getting rarer and rarer every year and there just plain cool and you never see them anymore except the dunes. And yeah ur so right about the overpriced listing there was at least 4-5 listings that people were asking 12000 or more for a Pilot.

Where I am that would've sold for $1400 within a day. Prices on these four wheelers have gone stupid high. About two years ago I bought an all original 2012 400ex for $2200. A few months ago I bought an all original 2004 400ex for the same price. These things are only gonna get higher, especially since Yamaha stopped making the 450s and 700s.
