That PS2 game Rule of Rose is a very valuable game. I've seen it go as high as $700 for a used copy on ebay. It is one of the most rarest games for the PS2.

Ya. It was one of the first threads I found on Reddit. Of the 1000 PS1 games, only a few don't work and I just had to pick one of them lol. Otherwise, it's really, really clean.

I bought a backwards compatible 80gb PS3. the emulation is like 80 percent(ish)! I haven't ran into any games I couldn't play. Im changing out the thermal paste, replacing the 15 blade fan with a 19 blade, and modding it to get Multimann to control the fan! My system will never overhead (in theory) and I couldn't be happier to own one of these collectable councils :)

I still have my initial release PS3 and it still going strong. I recently picked up a PS3 super slim and retired the OG one as I don't want to put more wear and tear on it as I have other options to play PS1/PS2 with a retrotink2x etc. Plus the PS1 games work on the PS3 slim anyways. Glad it worked for you.

I wonder if there are any tricks to prevent the ylod like a cooling fan. I tried putting a desk organizer having the ps3 on top that someone suggested but that doesn’t appear to do the trick I can still hear the fan running.

I'm honestly not sure. I don't know if there is a fix all. Some stuff works vetter for some people, but doesn't work at all for others.

Mine only lasted a month and got yellow light of death. It was second hand, gonna see if I can fix it. I hear the main culprit are 8 NEC/Tokin capacitors near the CPU and RSX for the fat models where most of the heat is formed.

Unfortunately, its more than the nec token capacitors. The initial RSX GPUs sony use have upwards of 50% faliure rate somewhere around 1-5 years. Actually Nec Token capacitors are rarely faulty. The sodering quality of the nec token was mostly the issue if any. The GPU were simply poorly made and prone to internal failure. Excessive heat accelerates the process. There are cases of even ps3 delid getting YOLD down the line and syscon diagnoses points right to the GPU failing. The truth is every ps3 has near 50/50 failure rate. All we can do is extend its life with quality thermal paste and installing a fan which you can control the speed. There are videos for that.

I might put that on a future video for sure. I actually use Launchbox. Well I paid for it so it's technology Bigbox, but you know what mean. I switched from Hyperspin which was a nightmare compared to Launchbox

That's awesome, yea I use bigbox also. I was curious how you setup 2 to 4 players to play on bigbox. Also how you feel about the battery issues going around on the ps3 and ps4.Once they die its over unless they send out a patch before the store is gone.

@@derekd289 That battery issue is really disappointing. I think they will do something about it.......I hope haha.....I actually set it up through the built in controls in Bigbox. I didn't have a single issue going through each controller and setting it up. I think I may have had to set each one up individually through Mame though.

If you wanna play ps2 games just get a ps2, backwards compatible ps3 is expensive and hassle to maintain, not worth it..just get a ps2 retrovision component cable($30), retrotink 2x pro multiformat ($129) and mclassic($100) to upscale your old retro games to 1080p or 4k without all the overheating issues, the 2 upscalers are kinda expensive but they’re worth it compare to a bc ps3, you can also use those to upscale ps1 and wii games to HD...
