I'm reluctant to post, but scenarios like this are why I would never buy a Rolex unless it's from the AD. Many super-clones will not be distinguishable from legit until you take the case back off and look for the free sprung balance. Even with a loupe, the finishing on the face/hands/case on the £500 super-clones is perfect. Even if just one of those is a clone gets through, someone gets fleeced £15k or the dealer looses all profit in the deal. No one would know until 5 years later and they send the watch to Rolex for a service. I guess there are a load more checks happening off camera?

If it’s genuinely indistinguishable it doesn’t actually matter if it’s a clone.

I very much doubt it. As with most grey dealers they do not have a watchmaker verifying these watches. Just a loupe and a check with the watch register. EBay offer a verification service for free.

I've got a black dial milgauss, MOP daytona, meteorite gmt, and a load of other old gmts, datejusts and daydate etc I've accumulated over the years and I still think the milgauss has the nicest rolex dial. It's just retro, practical and cool tool watch, and I will extend that to all smooth bezel models such as the datejusts which I personally think are massively underrated.

Graham issue is you are going to wait longer as you know. If you go to a decent Grey market dealer you can pick up clean watches and as you know prices dropping

Everyone has pulled liquidity by refinancing property at lower interest rates. That money has dried up now and higher borrowing costs are in place. That crazy period is over.

Prices are going back up on numerous models (BLNR and Daytonas for example), due to the holiday period coming, as is the case every year. Market has really stabilized for the past 6 months when you look at actual charts and selling/buying prices, but hey you believe what you want.

Thanks Mike really appreciate that! Yes so here in the U.K. the white tag is supplied from the AD, but it is not in every country. It has the all important dial code on, so for watches with rarer dials it is important!

I wasn’t even into watches till I caught this channel. What a superb channel,so informative,and interesting and throughly nice guys!. On a side note I just seen a clip of Joe rogan talking about his Rolex watch,every couple of months was about 5 minutes fast,he took it to Rolex and they said that’s the way it’s built and we can’t do anything about it?,surley that’s not correct?

It’s the equivalent of 5 seconds fast per day which is within the normal tolerance. Still very accurate

Just a personal comment/observation. I do not know the collector, but to obtain such a beautiful collection and NOT wear it is a sad part of watch collecting and why prices have been driven up. Obviously this collector is free to do what he wants, but how many other collectors would have bought these watches and worn them to get enjoyment.
