I did the same thing and got that same little tube of gold flakes. Just like fake-ass fairy dust.... But I got alot of proof coins which I didnt know what a proof looked like. I just said "Wow!!! These coins have a special polish to them" and I received about 8 coins and they were all proofs except the 1958 half dollar.

Sadly, silver certificates can’t be used to get silver any more, it hasn’t been that way for over 50 years now! Hang on to it if you can, its value comes from being a collectable.

the silver certificate could be redeemed by the bank for a limited time after Nixon switched the dollar to paper backed currency. I believe it's worth comes from novelty now.

You can buy Gold Leaf sheets down at the Arts And Crafts Store, And Silver ain't worth Shit compared to Many things in Life. There is more Gold in yer Cell Phone than in those Tinny Things! Shoot, I got more Gold in My Mouth than what you got off ebay :P It was a good learning experience for you and that is important:) We'll make a Man out of you yet :D

I bought of of these coin lots and pretty much got the same results. all a bunch of repeat dates and heavily worn circulated silver coins. I recognized the super hyped up sales pitch. makes everything seem like he a straight shooter. I can't stand a bait and switch seller like him. I felt taken too. read his guarantee closely you maybe be able to catch him on a promise he did not intend but wrote it wrong. in my case he promised the lot would be worth more then what I paid for it. he implied a way greater value then what I paid but no actual number. "way greater value" is subjective, except to eBay with an upset customer. long story short I got a coin roll of worn $1.00 Morgans. if nothing else try eBay and tell them your unhappy. buyers always win.
