would you recommend buying a car from copart catagory U like your pug to buy and sell if they say it can start and drive or will i get stung with work ? shall i bid worse case like you

If you're looking to make money then don't go near Copart. There's a reason it's in a salvage yard. If a trader thought he could make money out of a vehicle it wouldn't end up in Copart. You can't inspect them in person anymore, the fees add up very quickly, it's a massive massive gamble. I did this for a summer project/experiment, I wasn't too concerned about money, which is just as well!

Whats about the vehicle papers ? Do you get them with the vehicle at the delivery or they send them by mail after ? Thanks

You have to fill out a form telling DVLA you're the new keeper and they send you a new V5 registration document.

What does a cat u car turn into? If I buy a cat u car and repair it is it just a normal non categorised car? Or does it get given a category like ‘N’

It will always be at least a Cat U, and will probably show up as such on a detailed vehicle search, even though a basic history check might miss it. Some very thorough checks will show that the vehicle has been sold through salvage. Worst case scenario, it's sold as a Cat U while an insurance company is still sorting out the paperwork, then 6 months later you find it now shows as write off or stolen recovered. They are a huge gamble.

@@alistairmscott so itd be sold as a cat u? Just because there’s no cat Us on auto trader or anywhere so I just assumed they must get assigned a different category or become non-categorised as no one theoretically knows from face value

@@NeonYt yep. One of the reasons why decent service history, log book and a thorough vehicle check are so important when you buy a second hand car.
