Josh Layne I converted my Pedal Harp to sound great w/ Nylon strings on the Treble & Middle Registers (no Gut strings there) by shaving down the soundboard so that it's actually tapered.

Nylon Strings last longer than Gut Strings, interestingly the Pirastro Concert Harp Strings (All Nylon & Steel Strings) have transitional Strings between the Plain Nylon Trebles & Wound Steel Basses, that's Aluminum Wound Nylon Strings for the 5th Octave E & D Strings to give you the most killer Harp Sound.

You never actually play so we can hear the difference. That's the whole reason I clicked the video.

I’ll add my request for an update to this wonderful video, including your take on the difference in the feel and sound of flurocarbon strings compared with gut and nylon.

Please redo this video and actually play the strings this time. I am not a harp player, but I really want to hear how gut strings on harp sound. You sound like an expert, but you need to demonstrate what you're saying.

Hi Josh! Gosh I love your videos. I'm so proud you're a fellow Canadian. Have you by any chance made a video that compares the sound of nylon and gut? I had an opportunity to get a pedal harp that was very old and necessitated only gut strings, which is exciting to me, since I love warmer sound too, but if the lower notes don't sound good in gut and require a higher tension metal string for good sound on the low notes (this old harp wouldn't bear the tension), then I'd rather not invest in fixing up this harp. Thoughts? Any demo vids? :)

Hi, worth checking with facebookgroups/historical harp experts about various stringing options for older harps. As for doing a video contrasting the sound of gut and nylon, ideally I'd want to have two of the same model harps, one strung with nylon and one with gut to give as accurate a picture as possible. The harp itself contributes so much to the sound regardless of the strings that with my current options I feel I couldn't do a useful comparison. Hopefully I can at some point in the future!

Play the difference Ideally alternate style on same style harp. This was pretty much just a video on your opinion 🤔😬
