We have a house about 35 minutes north of Tomar and love the area. Very good value and lovely people. We can walk into town and still have land. Good luck with your search!

Foreigners bringing money into Portugal can have several positive effects for the people and the economy: 1. **Boost to Local Businesses:** Increased spending by foreigners stimulates local businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, shops, and tour operators. This, in turn, creates job opportunities and generates income for locals. 2. **Revenue for Government:** Taxes collected from foreign investments and spending contribute to government revenue, which can be used to fund public services and infrastructure projects benefiting the population. 3. **Economic Growth:** Foreign investment can spur economic growth by increasing demand for goods and services, leading to expansion in various sectors of the economy. This can result in higher wages, improved living standards, and overall prosperity for the population. 4. **Cultural Exchange:** Interaction with foreigners can promote cultural exchange and understanding, enriching the local community with diverse perspectives, ideas, and traditions. 5. **Tourism Development:** Foreign visitors contribute directly to the tourism industry, which is a significant driver of economic activity in Portugal. Their spending supports jobs in hospitality, transportation, entertainment, and related sectors. Overall, foreign investment and spending can have wide-ranging positive impacts on the economy and society of Portugal, benefiting its people in various ways.

@@hardgrafttheatre so beneficial we are having a new wave of portuguese emigration simply because Young portuguese cant rent or buy a house, because housing prices became impossible for locals or emigrants due to the hype of Portugal. To prevent this problem for locals and imigrants living here, non residents should not be allowed to purchase residencial houses. That protective measure are in place in several countries with less severe situation then Portugal.

I sold my house in the UK to a Polish lady. I believe that where you are born in the world doesn't mean you must die there. Second homes are what is killing the housing market, not people relocating. Also remember that when I bought my home in Portugal the Portuguese owner bought another one, I moved and she moved. I didn't beg her to sell, she wanted to sell. As an EU citizen you too can buy and sell anywhere within the Union. Peace friend

@@hardgrafttheatre imigrants face the same problems as locals. What we have on Portugal is a lot of non residents buying houses to sell soon after because the housing market is a business. Thats the real estate speculation by foreigners I was talking about, already not allowed in many countries with less severe situation then Portugal.
