That room behind the bread oven was probably a smoke room. Where you'd cure choriços and other smoked sausages. Back in the day it was quite usual to have an outside kitchen. Where the bread oven would be, like it is there. Imagine having that bread oven inside the house during summer! People would boile. The house itself is not old. Looks like built in the 70's or so. And looks like it was built by someone oldschool with a little money to show off, that kept the oldschool needs like the bread oven and the rabbit/chicken pen. With a little makeover and some gardening it would look amazing. Huge potential.

Definitely a Portuguese house. Might have been built by Portuguese who lived previously in Africa, it has a colonial flavor to it. The outside "kitchen" is where you bake bread, or cook anything you like in a firewood over, and also you smoke the sausages there. The yellow bathroom tile would give me a headache, but someone might love it. I love this home. In the winter is probably very cold, since it's not insulated. The electric bill also might be enormous, solar panels would help, and a central heating apparatus. The "garden" is a yard, and it's a LOT of work to keep up. You can have chickens and goats. A marvelous county house for someone who truly values Portuguese country living - like I do, but of course, I am Portuguese. I hope whoever bought it is happy with it, and if you are not, sell it to me for 150K.

my house had all trim and floors on first floor were oak, and trim and floors on 2nd were yellow pine. 100 year old house. in us.

Pine is often used in European homes, Oak is for very posh homes in Europe, much cheaper in America

these are houses that should NOT be renovated, the character of the house is what makes it interesting. Personally I don't like the tiles and stuff, but I also feel it would be wrong to get rid of them. This house deserves an owner that appreciates the quirkiness.
