The Cabot Trail is the perfect place to buy a house! It is so gorgeous there, we were actually there for the first time a couple of weeks ago (and we also got on that super cute cable ferry!) and it was so beautiful. It would be the perfect location for a home! Welcome to Nova Scotia

good to have that sense of humour. JUST wow IF THIS was filmed in pandemic time you are so lucky being there...we have not seen any family members in Ontario since March 2020...and you had 15 over....sounds like the normal life that we once had... that is a beautiful area. time to make memories♥(sorry we cannot here you over the road noise in the car)

No worries! We had all of the normal things like inspections done. Other than we didn't have a realtor everything else was the same. We had an inspection and lawyers go back and forth with the agreements. We have been so grateful to be the Atlantic Bubble during this time.

I did the same thing. Bought a 100 year old house on cape breton. Lots of land. Love my Tim Hortons. Cape Breton is filled with black flies though.
@ODriscolls4 жыл бұрын
The black flies are shocking bad. It would be paradise if it weren't for the black flies and that time in the Spring where it's like slushy and melty and you want to winter to end but it hangs on. Other than that 😂👌
@davidrockefeller20074 жыл бұрын
How are the mosquitoes and or black flies? Is it better on the ocean or different parts of Cape Breton?
@ODriscolls4 жыл бұрын
We moved in here at the end of August so we missed most of the bugs. There were some warm days where you don't want to be outside at sunset. They come out for a little while then clear up. Black flies are pretty bad in the late Spring early summer in Cape Breton in general. Being close to the ocean is usually a safe bet because the wind will keep them off. I've heard a rumor that having chickens around is going to help with the flies in the Spring but I'll believe it when I see it! I've been in Central Ontario and experienced black flies and I've never had an experience like that in CB. I think having a screened in porch in this area is called for if we want to enjoy the summer evenings though. I hope this helps, it depends where you are, the time of year/ day and proximity to the ocean.

Hey guys, thanks for the videos. I'm about to make a move from Vancouver Island to the Annapolis Valley NS. I know that's a much different part of NS than where you guys are but I wonder how you felt about leaving BC? I bought 200 acres of forested land there as it's so much more affordable. I've been quite excited about it although with two weeks to go before the move I'm starting to feel a bit... anxious? - about the change. Any advice?
@ODriscolls2 жыл бұрын
The valley is gorgeous I think you will love it. Not being from BC it wasn't too hard to leave for us as it was a homecoming, though we did enjoy BC. There are a lot of ticks ip that way this year so prepare yourself for that. I'd be very excited if I were you moving onto that kind of property in the valley! -Dom

@ODriscolls3 жыл бұрын
Valid question especially in this area! We are both teachers. We didn't purchase the home until one of us had secured a contract for the year. We both commute, Dominic is about 50 minutes, I commute 30 minutes. Depending on what industry you work in, check out availability in Sydney, Baddeck and Port Hawksbury.

How much do It Cost you to buy the house
@ODriscolls4 жыл бұрын
It was under $150k. Real estate in Nova Scotia is pretty affordable compared to BC. I recommend checking out the website viewpoint.ca and you can see sales prices, prices houses have sold for, assessed value and listing history. That would give you a better idea of housing costs in Nova Scotia.
