I have both the MBA M1 13 inches base model & MBP M1 pro 16 inches.. for me they both have different purpose but both are incredible machines.. I love air for its compactness yet it is very powerful... the pro 16inches has an amazing huge display & also the built speakers are fuller & louder..

This is my combo too: the 16MBP is a max'd out desktop replacement which I can use all around my home/office; the 13MBA is my travel buddy. iCloud and other sync helps a lot

I agree, the main advantage of the Air is the form factor and the weight, every other thing is better on the pro.

nice concise overview. I’ve initially leaned towards the Pro but saw so many “wow m3 air is amazing” videos suggested that I became unsure. Your video convinced me that the pro is a better choice for me personally, as I do have some resource intensive tasks in my regular routine that might push the fan-less air to its limits and the form factor is not that important to me. The display and speakers are a nice bonus too.

Great video! I was wondering myself the same question a couple of months ago. I ended up buying the M3 Pro MacBook Pro, from the refurbished store directly from Apple. The deal was pretty great and immediately discards the price difference between the Air and Pro if I wanted to have the same 512/16Gb configuration. Highly recommend the refurb store, my laptop only had 2 batteries cycles and was in a pristine condition. Oh and best color is of course silver :)

I already got M3 Pro base model -14 inch, now be brutally honest, will i be missing out on a lot given that my use is not heavy rendering and stuff like that? My use is light editing and browsing with many tabs open, working with google suit, watching you tube etc.

my dads in his 90s. the air makes sense as its lighter and hes not running AI models or doing any video editing. otherwise pukker up, the pro is still lightweight compared to a laptop of 20 years ago.

Look the Pro is the better computer. If you don't have the money than obviously get the Air but if you have it to pay to play than always get the Pro regardless of your workload the Pro is just better to have period.

Exactly! lol It's kind of obvious that the Pro will be better, that's why it's "Pro". The point is simply financial: if you can afford to buy the Pro, which is more expensive. Here in Brazil, the new Pro is MUCH more expensive. Today, in 2024, the new Pro is almost 4x the price of the M1 Air. The only possibility is to buy it used (with all the risks that that entails) and even then it's at least 2x the price of the new M1.

@hanumantharao7743 I don't I use DaVinci resolve, and currently I have a 90 day free trial of final cut pro but haven't used it much. I'm editing a 3hr long video as we speak on resolve 19 with 4 cameras on the time line 3 action cameras all in 4k and one of them is the panasonic s5 4k 200mbs. So pretty beefy time line and I have a million cuts and color graded all the videos and still runs with no lags

I recently bought a MBA M3 24GB/1TB, it's worst decision I ever made. The air is just so limited, it doesn't do anything good, it's too expensive and the base model is laughable. You need 16GB as a min for MacOS, so now you're looking at 1500, and that's the problem. its not worth it. Just don't even think about compromising, just go with the MBP, its just better in every single way conceivable.

M3 air > pro No fan Better battery life Super light to carry Better keyboard Better focus Only buy m3 pro for speaker. They are heaven. Finger, palms hurt when typing on pro. Keep a painkiller with u. Heavier. Not as practical. Good for studio work, artists, hook it up to external monitor. save ur money and get iCloud. Get m3 air

no fan isnt a pro battery life is lower not better its not even a pound lighter keyboard is literally the exact same "better focus" doesnt mean anything Palms dont hurt when typing on a pro in any sense unless youre using a VERY non ergonomic table:chair height ratio Its more practical with more ports and power
