I own a mortgage brokerage based out of DFW, but my assistant lives in Leander and lately I've been buying leads in Travis and Wilco and I am shocked to see how many homes are valued at more than what they're selling at from the Assessor in addition to the large concentration of investors evident by the percentage of homes that I researched that do not have Homestead

Did you mention the property taxes go up when property values go up? I left Austin before the Plandemic because of it. We live in East Texas where property taxes are somewhat reasonable. We own three homes here and taxes are still cheaper than one home in Austin. Our ranch house is twice as big and we have 34 acres to go with it, the total taxes are still cheaper than one house in Austin. Granted there is not much as far as jobs, but my wife works from home for a corp company, so we are doing ok. If they don’t do something about the property taxes soon, Austin will become another Detroit.
