Bobby G: I agree. The DS models are beautiful. Owners' version has a great master suite aft, if that's your thing too. Great boats all around today.

I really enjoy your shows. Consider thinking about some segments focusing on more performance oriented sailboats . As an example the Beneteau first series. Thanks again

I love these vids too/ great straight to the point info. My brain is recording much of this. What does DS stand for?

I am warming to the Jeanneau DS models. The stepped cockpit seat are kind of meh but otherwise they are pretty nice. They are on the short list now.

Not buying for a while but still enjoy your videos! What has brokers done that you so dislike them😀

Thanks , ahh I've been buying boats for decades, brokers are just used car salesman

I have been in that 2000 Jeanneau 34-2 in Vermont looking early this year to purchase a boat . This is a single owners boat and my brief overview showed that there was some bilge pump work going on and the sole of the bilge cover was springy . The boat works for us and I would like to take my wife there this weekend . Any advice on critical issues or suggested offer? Or maybe a consult? Many thanks !!

Oh nice , sure I would be happy to help, maybe sign up for the producer on my website, that gets you a consult as well as a years access to the members area , I'm always available to chat on the members area and would be more than happy to help

For quite a while I have been torn between more modern yachts (43- 47ft) comparable with your criteria and another group including ketch rig yachts such as Ta Chiao 54, Formosa 51, etc, as these were described as robustly built spacious boats with favourable sail configurations. With the latter being 1980 at newest would you describe the latter as boats to be avoided?

He doesn't recommend anything older than 2000. This I believe is due to repair costs
@ChasingLatitudes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks @terry , yes that's 100% correct, I generally will never recommend a vessel older than 2000 due to repair costs, refit cost , design, functionality, space and numerous other factors
@ChasingLatitudes2 жыл бұрын
@andrew yeah, those vessels while Great in their day are simply to old at this point , all of your money would be spent on repairs, besides that they are incredibly out dated designs and you could find something newer and smaller that will still have more room

consider: 1.) folks who buy newer (or new) sailboats are necessarily on the higher side of income, and most likely have the smarts to go with that higher income (with some notable exceptions). 2.) we (they) are putting our boats up for sale. for a lot of us thats a heady decision rife with sadness. 3.) dont you have to wonder why so many of us are all, at one time, selling our much loved boats? 😞
@ChasingLatitudes2 жыл бұрын
nope I dont wonder why at all, this pace cant continue with the economy and boats will be some of the first things to go

Really? You won’t mention the Draft number along with all the other numbers you give, then every boat after that 393 you give the Draft. Yes, all boats have a variety of Drafts as well as a variety of Lengths. 😂
