I own a 2019 Model 3 LRDM with 60k miles, and the car is at 248 wh/mile over the life of the car. (almost exactly the EPA rating) A typical freeway trip is about 265 wh/mile. A typical highway trip is about 230 wh/mile. Have only had to wait for charging once. On a 900 mile drive I do several time a year, the car takes the same 15.5 hours as with my previous IC cars. As for charging technique, it works best to keep the car between 10% and 80% as the charge rate above 80% drops enormously. Seems to work best to drive about 3 hours between charging stops, stop for 20 minutes or so....and do it again. Another consideration is that one can start off with a full charge from home....in my case at zero cost. Over the past 5 years and 60k miles this car has had almost no maintenance and cost hardly anything for fuel. These are great cars.

@@overdrive_reviews I'm curious do you level 2 charge at home with a 200A service coming into your house or do you charge at a lower rate than that at home?

There are 5 superchargers between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. I would never sit and wait for a deep charge and would never full charge at a supercharger, when there are options along the way. If you’re doing a range experiment, sure. In reality, never do this unless you absolutely need a full charge. Also, were you preconditioned? You should have been seeing higher speeds at a V3 supercharger. Unless everyone plugged in dead at the same time.

Totally agree - I never charge to 100 during normal trips, this was just for the video because I didn’t wanna have to stop! Normally, when I’m not doing a video, I leave Pitt with enough charge to get me to the Somerset Turnpike Plaza and I charge there then get back on the road! And for this video I don’t remember if I preconditioned or not - probably not, as I knew this supercharger’s location without navigation.
