This incredible time-warp surviving 1979 Trophy Agistar has NEVER been used for a holiday! I show you all its quirks and talk about what to look for when inspecting a new classic caravan project.
Hope you enjoy!
Happy Caravanning,
Cameron.

I nearly DIED, when I saw all the ORANGE accessories that came with the caravan! Orange is one of my favourite colours, and we do need an antidote to all the overuse of grey nowadays!

What a neat find… too bad it was never used, sat and started rotting. You’re so knowledgeable about older Caravans, if we ever get one and have questions I’m definitely coming to you!!

Amazingly, I remember being driven, in an identical car to this one (inside and outside colours, and all), by a girlfriend, whose parents owned it!

What an interesting time capsule tutorial. Incredible that the intended towing vehicle was still in the wrapper as well. A story worth hearing there, I'm sure.

What am amazing find ! Absolutely beautiful condition...I would love to know the reason behind it never ever being used though? I do hope it wasn't a sad event.😢 I hope the new owner really appreciates it, and has ghe same dedication and passion you held for it, so obviously in this video. ❤x

Awhhhhhhh, Cameron that takes me back , we bought our first caravan in Sept 1984 , it was a Trophy Perle, 1977. for £750 exact same exterior colours , only 10foot length , we loved it sooooo,.much , great holidays , wonderful memories loved seeing all that melarware, as it was known , made in England , that's worth a fortune , as it is vintage , I also owned a mallard, green Triumph Toledo 1972 until 1984 , but we used dad's Austin Maxi to tow, our little Perle, I am now on caravan number 11 , a fancy Coachman Pastiche !!! That's a real minter, Cameron , worth keeping definitely , where will you ever find another !! Such a gem to find , great video , very informative and educational , hope you enjoy many years ahead in that wonderful caravan and many trips away with like minded vintage caravan owners !!! That's a definite keeper , happy days , ps, always loved the wee opening top windows, great ventilation on warm nights !!!

Great van, what a find. I’ve got tons of Melaware in the unusual brown colour. We had a new 1978 Lunar Clubman which had the Vanessa Oven and RM212 Fridge, complete with Perspex and glass double glazing! I’ve got an old trade suppliers guide from 1970s which has some great names and products listed.

To Alex Rankin Both the Triumph Toledo, and the caravan are nice - but I wouldn't like to make the poor Toledo having to tow anything - it's only a 1300. Better to have the larger engined model simply known as the Triumph 1500. OR the Dolomite, whose engine was even bigger, OR the sportier 2 litre Dolomite Sprint!

@@nygelmiller5293 totally agree about its pulling performance. My dad used to tow with a 1.3 Marina for a while, until we got a 1.6 Cortina

Incredibly sad, that it never got used. I've spent years waiting and hoping to travel, then just as I was financial enough to start planning and looking for a van.... then covid hit. But I managed to get a 15ft 1977 York a few months ago - much work to do!!

Hi we have brought a caravan similar to this our is a trophy but bigger. We are unsure of name and age. I was wondering where we could get the wheel rims. They look the same as what’s on this caravan you have shown. We have done a web search but had no luck finding one with the size of the centre hole

Really miss these lightweight no frills Caravans. Where’s all the excessive weight come from on modern vans? I wonder if lightweight vans will return when we’re all driving electric cars?
@NotAnotherWhiteBox
@NotAnotherWhiteBox 3 жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. No one has ever re-evaluated caravan design from the ground up in recent years. The quest for lightness commenced in the 1980s as more and more equipment was demanded as standard. However, equipment has got heavier and heavier, and it would make sense to return to a full steel chassis to properly support the floor, instead of just beefing up the construction to cope with the extra weight.

This kind of has me in conflicted emotions ~ there must be a pretty compelling reason as to why it was purchased and then never used ~ perhaps the original owners had purchased it with all the hopes and dreams of using it but then one of them passed and so it never got used.... A beautiful, but sort of sad find....

Part worn tires are 2 ply, commercial 6 ply about the same as caravan tires are unavailable part worn there belong to car tires .Part worn tires sourced in Germany are car tires the law that covers all used cars to have new tires when sold from a deal rs doesn't extended to commercial vehicles.6ply is the minimum you want on a caravan.

Can't be a 1979 because it's glass windows they were changed by law to perspex in 1978 .The latest it is a 1977 possibly a 1976 caravan
@NotAnotherWhiteBox
@NotAnotherWhiteBox 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely a 1979 model, I had all the original paperwork with it. The law was announced that it would change in 1978, but it didn’t take effect until 1981/2. And it outlawed fitting non-toughened glass, it was still possible to use toughened safety glass. But most manufacturers had moved onto plastic windows by then because it became the industry norm. The last popular caravan to be fitted with glass windows was the 1981 range of Ci Cadets.
Now THIS is entertainment! 🤣
