I had a 93, looked just like that but the paint colors were swapped, light blue top/bottom, dark blue in the middle. 2WD, 5speed with 3.42's Mine was last year of the mechanical injection, and it was extremely reliable. I put 247K on it before I let it go. It was still running great when I sold it. The 6.5 had a few weak points that were easily addressed. The balancers would go bad in about 100K, and then the crank would break. Balancer was cheap and easy to change. Oil cooler lines would last about as long, and again, cheap and easy to change. Timing chains would stretch, there was a gear drive replacement that I did but I don't think thats available anymore. I did larger crossover pipe, downpipe/exhaust, high pop injectors, better mechanical boost controller, turned up the pump a bit and advanced a bit. It ran great, 21-22mpg on the highway and 18 in town. 38 gallon fuel tank made it a great traveling truck. It wasnt a Cummins or Powerstoke, but I didn't pay that kinda money for it and it did everything I asked it to. If I could buy another just like it I would.

Stop wasting your time trying to pull start or jump it. If you have any knowledge of old school diesel you need good batteries and starter to crank them fast enough to generate heat to start

Sorry, I’m used to 7.3 IDI Fords. They will start with a bad battery if the alternator is good by pull starting them.

My 6.9 has an electric fuel pump on the frame and it pull starts really good

'92-93 6.5s are the golden era, but they go for big money. They are still all mechanical. until... gm fked it in 94 then it was electronical until 2000-01. '88-93 for the 6.2 NA diesel in the OBS and have become hard to find like a square-headed bolt. I'm trying to convert my '91 5.7 tbi to a 6.2 since i got a spare eng / 4L60 trans stuff for it. but finding a correct YR eng harness / the other bits. Yeah... already been looking for months. nothing is available aftermarket.

Can I ask what you paid for it? I would love a 6.5 with 4x4 and a 5 speed. Can’t stand these automatics

So I recently bought a 94 Sierra, beautiful looking truck, it’s red, but oh my god, almost everything can possibly break on it , it’s breaking now the driver seat won’t stay up, and the harmonic balancer is all over place, 😢

Yeah you’ll have that. It seems there is common parts that break on some of the old Fords and Chevys. I’m sure once we get all the common parts replaced. It will be a good truck

Hey I have been a power stroke owner for the last 10 years, just recently bought a Sierra 6.5l, beautiful looking truck, but omg 😧 everything is just breaking on it… 😢, leave me a message if you would like to see it.

Yeah I’ve kind of had that issue with 6.5 to. Yeah sure man that would be cool to see.

I got 4 mins into this and was like "Yeah, these Ford boys know nothing about a 6.5"

What's there to know, every motor functions the same. Intake, compression, deflagration (in a diesel), and exhaust. If you understand that you can work on most any motor, brand loyalty plays no part.
