OK this is the BNF version. How you can program the TX (DX9) in order to have flaps and at the same time full span ailerons when you have a 6 channel receiver (AR637T) ?
@jdouglasj20004 жыл бұрын
I have only had six RC flights with a Carbon Cub S+. I just ordered this plane. I won’t be attempting acrobatics any time soon. I plan to fly with SAFE turned on. With that in mind, does this plane present additional challenges, or can you tell the beginner pilot anything to watch out for when just doing simple take offs, turns, and landings?
@HorizonHobbyProducts4 жыл бұрын
Just be mindful of the type of plane you are flying. You have huge control surfaces, a ton of power, and a very aggressive flight envelope. It is very easy to get caught out. That being said, with SAFE Select, you should be in the clear!

Hi, could you explain to us please, how did you make the set up to this BNF Night Timber in order to have 4 servos ailerons (full span ailerons) + flaps + reverse motor ? Thank you very much

Dose it come with floats...¿ Does the floats have lights ? Are the lights daytime lights or nighttime lights?
@HorizonHobbyProducts4 жыл бұрын
No, floats are not included. It will accept the floats that the Turbo Timber ships with (no lighting): www.horizonhobby.com/float-set--timber-efl5261

Be Advised: If you don’t have a DX8 or better you will not be able to utilize all the functionality of this plane. Also, the AR637TA reciever is locked so the user cannot adjust anything like setup flight modes, channel mapping, gains, AS3X settings, etc., like you can with a standard AR637T. Also, The reverse function is locked into the reciever and you cannot use that channel for anything but reverse. You can disable the switch in your radio, but like a bad STD, you’re stuck with it forever!
@willowehrich62074 жыл бұрын
If you don't use safe could you use a 6 channel radio like the Dx6e for reverse thrust? It seems like you could have figured out a way to integrate things better so that more pilots with the common 6ch radios could unlock all the features. Otherwise whats the point in spending so much more for the new version even with the lights. It is almost just as cheap and easy to add more leds to the old one and save some money.

Hi, in order to operate the reverse in the motor properly do you need the smart batteries from Spektrum? I supose that for just fly it you can use a general battery. Please, clarify this point Thank you
@HorizonHobbyProducts4 жыл бұрын
The reverse functions works with Smart and non-Smart batteries! However, you must use a Smart receiver (like the AR637TA installed in the BNF Basic version) and a compatible 7+ channel Spektrum transmitter (like the DX6e, 8e, 6 Gen 2/3, 8 Gen 2, 9, iX12 or iX20) to utilize it. And in addition to the reversing, you will also get real-time telemetry including motor RPM, ESC temp, current draw and overall battery voltage with non-Smart batteries, plus you'll also get individual cell voltages and battery temperature with Smart batteries.

@@HorizonHobbyProducts Hi, I am using the DX9 Balck Edition with the latest firmware version, the V 2.05. I have the BNF version ( with the 637T installed) and I can tell you that you are not correct. With the generic battery, wich is my case now, you have no information about the overall battery voltage. You only have the 6.0 volts on your TX but this voltage means only what the BEC delivers. The Tx does not show the 12.6 volts for the 3cells, or 16.8 volts for the 4 cells. You have nothing more: no motor RPM, no ESC temp, no current draw. I have the Night Timber here, so, that it what it is. I have other bigger 3D machines with 12 cells, 4500 watts, AR9350 receivers and on those models I have Telemetry from Spektrum and I can see the real voltage in line in my DX9 (even with voice message). So I know the telemetry and the info about volts during the flight works and is fantastic. But with the Timber and with the generic battery, trust me, you have no valuable information coming from the model. That is why I am considering to buy Smart Spektrum batteries. To have all the info that you are telling and of course to have reverse on the motor
@MarioRodriguez-iu1vr4 жыл бұрын
Hi, receive my apologize for the above lines. I forgot to activate the telemetry on my TX. Now, I have info about the overall voltage of my 3 cells packs, RPM, and temp. But the reverse ( I tried it again) does not work properly. I proceded according the manual, (page 4). I selected switch A: Pos 0= -100 , Pos 1 = 100. You run the motor OK, (forward) then you stop it, move the A switch to the 1 position and the motor runs forward with no change to reverse. After several intents and stopping it, in a random way, it change to reverse and stay in reverse no matter how many times you change the switch. You need to disconnect the battery, stat again in order to have the forward movement of the motor. Sorry again, and thank you very much for your interest and help

Can I fly this with a DX6i please? I don't need reverse or SAFE. I can upgrade the transmitter later but would rather spend the money on a plane. Will it be OK to just fly and some 3D please?

I used a standard flysky 6 ch on this plane and it fly's way to erratic, it was actually harder to fly than with the dsx, I wouldn't recommend flying without what's recommend, Wich is the dsx speektrum trans and receiver. I learned my lesson.

Technically you can using the Transmitter/Receiver Programming Cable: www.horizonhobby.com/as3x-programming-cable---usb-interface-spma3065

You cannot do any programming to the supplied AR637TA. It’s locked. You can program a regular AR637T, so you would need to replace it with one of those.... another $100.
