I recommend investing in some speakers stands either desktop or floor-standing, Kanto has some good options.

Those Wharfedale 220s are easy to find in Black, but very hard to find in White in the UK. Jammy git :)

if you want a cd player today that performs that well you might have to pay a lot, cause since the cds became less popular and the mp3 became a thing, the cd players started to become a cd rom instead which is slow. The laser is smaller and less robust. so I would buy old any day unless I have a ton of cash. Now I am a Rotel fan myself, and even though I have gone a bit overtop on stereo the last few years I would still go for a setup like this if I were to have something small. Todays speakers can sound really loud in a sense that they play bigger and have deep bass compared to older box speakers. Rotel is the barrier between normal and high end leaning more against the last one. I cant see the brand on your speakers there, but if you ever have the budget, you could always upgrade in quality, not size cause when you get a good enough tweeter and woofer you will hear something magical which is fully possible with these Rotel components

I don’t care about gapless playback either. It’s really only for listening to live albums and I rarely if ever do that. This is an awesome system for what you paid and I understand going a little over budget to get a matching piece of gear. I am all about aesthetics when it comes to hi-fi. Speaking of which , I love the cardigan, man! Good lookin out!

Brilliant stuff Mart. Rotel is a really good quality brand, Japanese made too. To buy a complete quality audio system for £200 is absolute genius. Well done..

You did very well, mate. That's a very decent system for £200. Techmoan did a similar exercise a few years ago and he ended up with a much older (and likely lesser) system although in fairness to him, he was buying more components and from ebay where shipping is going to add to the overall cost. Btw, HDCD was a very clever idea that, like so many ideas, never really took off. It was an impressive enough idea for Microsoft to buy the company that invented it but they seemed to let it die off without much fanfare which is a shame.

I am still enjoing my Rotel setup (RCD-02 & RA-02) & AE Aegis Evo 3 since 2002 🙂BTW, the setup was also inspired by What H-Fi

The cardigan is looking good, my friend! GREAT job on this system challenge. You got truly amazing components for what you spent and the condition is outstanding on the speakers and the amp. You proved this can be done, quite easily too. I personally would have chosen a WiiM Mini Wi-Fi streamer as my music source which regularly go on sale for $78.00 on Amazon, as I only own like 2 CDs. Thank you for doing something different. God bless!!!!

I heard that if a CD takes more than five seconds to load, then the sound is coming through the buffer memory, and if it’s about three seconds, then the sound is coming directly from the CD, and that’s good. Looks great paired with an amplifier and speakers.

Like the fashion like the site, you do a great job, I dont change my hifi gear or my jumpers much but your info is informative & useful. I had a rotel going back a few years but still liking my marantz cd6007 with its bonus usb slot from which I play flac hires, (I am lazy it saves me keep getting up). I have suddenly got loads of cd's while they are cheap online although I have the rega p3 for vinyl prices are getting extreme. Cds still have a good place just like your cardi.

Total success, not a failure. I bet many people would like to have your hi-fi system for 200 quid. Rotel is a killer brand. By the way, no gapless playback, means no opera, no Pink Floyd. So what? You can still listen to Bob Marley 🙂 And anyway, who cares how you dress, as long as you don't appear naked on youtube, though I wouldn't mind that either..
@UTILITARIANTVUK Жыл бұрын

I checked the average price for all of your components on ebay. On ebay, your hi-fi system costs around 600 dollars. So don't ever sell your gear, it was an absolute bargain..

@@AlexanderG-mi7ip I got an absolute bargain! Definitely keeping the system and the cardigan.
