Thank you Darla. Yes I love using Hammermill 32 lb. and use it often. I know I didn't get into great detail about all the specifics of the different papers and may have to do a follow up with samples of each when I get back home to my Epson Ecotank Printer. I may print several while I'm here in Studio B using my Epson XP-820 as a comparison. 🥰

There is so much info in this video that is so valuable, I appreciate your patience and great detail in printing digital downloads. I am a beginner of junk journaling so I learned a lot from this video. Thank you!!! It’ll probably take me a long while to learn it all, meantime, not to overwhelm myself and give up altogether, I bought many Stamperia and other pretty cardstocks and paper packs online so I don’t have to buy digital as yet. I just received paper packs from Europe and it is beautiful for junk journal. Thanks for your video.

Hi Chantel. Thank you! I'm glad you found some useful info here. There is so much to junk journaling and I know how overwhelming it can be. I was brand new to it as well and started my channel to share with other beginners from a beginner's point of view. I just share what I learn as I go. In part, as a sort of video journal for myself when I need to refer back to something. It's so hard for it all to sink it at once so it's nice to have videos to go back and watch to refresh my memory. Happy Creating! 🥰

Welcome! I hope this video was helpful to you then. I keep meaning to do a better review video of my Epson Eco Tank printer now that I've had it awhile. I have the 8500 and I do really like it. I bought a lemon the first time but they were great about replacing it right away. One thing I have learned is that any color printer needs to be printed on at least once a week or things dry out and clog. I believe that's the case with any color printer and it was a real issue for me because I go back and forth between two homes so one printer is always sitting to long. Then I have to clean the heads to get it to print properly and that uses lots of ink if you have cartridges. I tried taking my Eco Tank back and forth with me thinking since I'm using the same printer and computer it shouldn't care where it is but It was sort of a pain too because of printing wirelessly and my printer getting confused being on different wifi networks. I did recently leave my Eco Tank for three weeks without printing and it did ok when I got back. It had lines when printing in color...like it might need a cleaning but I just print on a fine setting instead of normal setting and it prints perfectly without any streaks or head cleaning. I think now that I've been using it again it's happy. I would say overall I really like the Epson Eco Tank and I really like how long the tanks last and how easy it is to see when they need filling. I hope this helps. 🥰

Actually png is a higher quality format than jpg. And PDF is great because it can be resized without quality loss, and it does in fact have the ability to do transparency. Of course it depends what software you are using which files you can edit and how.
@heartandsoulfuldesign
@heartandsoulfuldesign 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your info. I believe I did read that somewhere. I think it also depends on the format of your original. For example, with some of my hand painted artwork, I found that taking photos of the artwork with my iPhone were actually better quality than my scans when using the printer/scanner I had at the time so they printed much better as jpg. I'll have to do some more experimenting I guess. Thank you for watching. 🥰

You kind of touched on a question I’ve been pondering.. if you have old atlas books, is it expectable to take photos of them to create your own digitals to sell? Also old stamps, pest cards, book pages and so on
@heartandsoulfuldesign
@heartandsoulfuldesign 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brianna. Thank you for watching. Here's another video that may help explain copyright specifically. This would apply to all books including atlases. With regard to post cards and cancelled stamps on letters, it is my understanding (although not an expert), that if you own the letters or postcards, you may scan them and use them in your digitals. My simple rule for myself is that anything older than 1927 is probably safe. I hope this helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKmle6WgppiVpas

@@heartandsoulfuldesign Thank you for getting back to me! I will watch the video soon. I researched copyrights last night. Anything before 1927 is a great rule! There’s also a database you can search to see if the copyright has expired or has been renewed. I found lots of sheet music with graphics that have expired copyrights which can be used freely.

How do you convert them from 8.5x11 to A4? Do you have to go in and manually change each one or do you run a photoshop action on it or some type of other automation?
@heartandsoulfuldesign
@heartandsoulfuldesign Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. I do go into each one and adjust manually as needed. Depending on the digital you have to be aware of distortion when doing this. Some designs may be fine with resizing while others might look odd. For my own designs where distortion matters I create my own custom size canvas in Photoshop Elements (where I am designing my digitals) that can print on either paper and you'll just have a bit of scrap on the edge. Since A4 is 8.27 x 11.69 inches, I make my custom canvas 8.27 x 11 inches. That way you can print on either size paper without altering the design. I hope this makes sense. 🥰

Welcome Rhonda! Thank you for watching. I do not have Windows. I use a MacBook Pro. For reorganizing digital photos to combine 2 different on one page, I use an external program like Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. I would assume you could also use a variety of other free apps that do photo collage. If you don't know how to convert a file to jpeg I recommend doing an online search as well since I don't use Windows. I did a search and found there are free converters through sites like Adobe for example. Again, I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for my digitals. I'm certainly not a computer expert and am just learning myself as I plug along and try to share what I'm learning as I figure things out. Best of luck! 🥰

Just started buying digitals after 25 years of making journals. First thing I notice? Resolution. Some images are crystal clear, more are pixilated/a bit/a lot blurry. I'm using a good standard printer and good matte photo paper, like everyone would. Price does not seem to be an indicator. How to tell the good prints from the fuzzy? (Been using photoshop since it became available, so have some background in prints, etc). 😄 Love your vid btw.
@heartandsoulfuldesign
@heartandsoulfuldesign 8 ай бұрын
I do know what you mean. You definitely want to look for digitals done in 300 dpi. Lower dpi will give you more pixelated images. That said, I did buy someone else's digitals that I believe were described as 300 dpi but were very blurry. I had tried to resize them as they were done in A4 so I may have ruined them myself. That's why it's important to make a copy of the original download before making any adjustments. If the original digital wasn't a quality scan or created in a high enough resolution it won't matter what paper or printer you use because it wasn't good to begin with. I'm not a computer expert but this is just my experience with creating digitals and buying them from others. 🥰

I'm not a printer expert and don't know what type of printer you are using. Are you using the top feeder? With my printer I do it manually by taking the printed page out and putting it back into the printer on the reverse side. Also, some papers like the Epson Premium Presentation Matte paper has different paper for single or double sided. If you want to print double sided you have to purchase the double sided paper. I don't know if this answer helps as I'm not sure what your problem is exactly.

What name brand and weight cardstock would you reccommend using for inkjet printer?
@heartandsoulfuldesign
@heartandsoulfuldesign 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tana-Marie. That's a very complicated question. Everyone has different preferences depending on what they want to use them for and what brand printer you have. I'm using an Epson EcoTank ET8500. For bright colors that I want in high quality I would use Epson Premium Presentation Matte. There are different weights and I have used both the 27 lb. and 44 lb. for the single sided. If you want to print double sided you have to buy double sided paper and that one I have in 48 lb. which is the double sided version of the 44 lb. single sided paper. For a less expensive option, I like Hammermill 32 lb. I also use cheap copy paper from Walmart as well as their Pen & Gear brand 110 lb. card stock. I'm currently working in a more grungy vintage style so I'm using a wide variety of papers that I have coffee or tea dyed first. I have two very recent videos on that subject and the most recent video is a nice overview of a wide variety of papers to create your own vintage ephemera. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iofZZ2ZtoK96fa8. I hope this helps. 🥰

You are correct that it is not a "junk journal" if you use kits or actually anything that is not junk. However, since the term "junk journal" has been adopted by a larger segment of this crafting population you will find the term used incorrectly more often than not. I've used it in my title simply to make it available to anyone interested in making a handcrafted journal. I've done the same as you as well and still love to paint my junk mail and any other recyclables to use in my projects. 🥰

Thank you so much for your videos. I'm really enjoying your contents and the results. I am in need of a new borderless printer and I do currently have the Epson ET-2720. It's ok print but no borderless and I love the eco tanks endless supply of ink. I am interested in your eco tank printer you mention but I cannot find an Eco tank 5500 even on the Epson website. Can you give more detail on the printer?

It's an Epson ET-8500. Another video on my to do list is a review now that I've had it awhile. I've promised to do this but had wanted to have it awhile and try lots of different paper weights etc. I will try and do it sooner than later. Here's a link to the printer: amzn.to/3R1K9Q8. This listing says it's wide format...not sure that's correct. Mine is the ET 8500 which is not the wide format. I believe the wide format if that refers to the larger sized paper is the ET 8550 which is a couple hundred dollars more. I didn't buy that one because I never print on larger paper than 8.5x11 so I saved the extra bucks. It took me awhile to figure out how to print borderless. The trick is you have to do a "complete" download of the software not just the basic. I have an MacBook Pro and to get borderless prints you have to print through the Epson printer software rather than Preview. I'll go over all this when I do my video. Thanks again ❤️

@@heartandsoulfuldesign Thank you! I must have misheard the number. Wow that printer should be good based on the price. I'm sure you've got a long list of to-do videos so please don't burn yourself out trying to get to them all so quickly.

Also, do you use Adobe Illustrator for all this type of editing or do you use multiple software?

I'm still just learning...I am learning Adobe Illustrator to do my digitals. I was using Adobe Photoshop to remove my backgrounds which I found pretty easy but that's all I was using it for and it has a monthly cost so I switched to Photoshop Elements because I joined The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership where they have lots of great tutorials and that's what they use. PSE is one you buy instead of a monthly subscription but I'm still learning this one. I think Photoshop was easier for removing difficult detailed backgrounds but PSE is probably overall easier and I like the Graphics Fairy tutorials since they are specific to the types of things I want to learn. I've heard Canva is also good but never used it. Because I'm such a beginner I'm going to stick to Illustrator and continue trying to learn PSE and see how it goes. Good luck! ❤️
