Might be good it did not catch on in Canada, you have a better chance to get the scrap. Or do you have competition? The processors and BGA chips plus RAM always sell as scrap everywhere, right?

Low grade boards are one of those borderline items with many changing options as the markets shift. Like you, I hate when it's time to recycle the vintage items I've had that don't sell to collectors. But we can't hang on to everything we find...we're not running museums 🤣

I enjoy taking low grade boards apart, just for the fun of it. I keep all components in jars should the grand children require them for art projects.

on that power board have a closer look at the blue adjustment knob like modules . on vintage CRT/TV the internal contact disks are silver. as well have a good look for gold leg transistors , I almost missed 3 of them on a late 70's TV I scrapped this year.

It was AWSOME seeing you in @RafelScrapper last Saturday! I am so looking to seeing what your garage looks like! I too have what I call horizonatal disease. IF there's a HORIZONTAL SURFACE it will get FULL! Including the floor of my house. 😮💨 I'm single so it's my roomate fault...THE CAT! 🐈😊 Well I'm working feverishly processing the scrap on floor instead of moving it around. ¿What color is your garage floor? 😉 💖 from Minnesota 🇺🇸😎

One point is the newer boards have silver alloy solder, that increases the value.

Yeah if I feel like going back to basics, low grade boards are most satisfying to depopulate

@eWasteBen definitely, very satisfying seeing the copper and aluminium adding up quickly 🙂

I recently sold two Gaylord’s of low grade boards for .65$ US a pound. They are definitely worth it. The fiber glass circuit board by itself with just the copper tracing is on average 30% copper recovery by weight on its own.

Yea but if i was him i wouldnt do it, 50 australian cents a kilo comes out to like 13 cents a lb american, not really worth the hassle i would think, i would just pop off the easy aluminum and copper and shred the rest

Don't forget lead and tin. There is lots of lead and tin in low-grade boards.

Ben a question ,with the price of copper being so high is it not worth stripping the low value boards compared to what price you will get from your buyer.
@tj82442 ай бұрын
It would but that is a major time suck. He can make more giving that time to higher value items and boards. After a while you are spending a dollar to make a dime. Always have to figure out efficient productivity.
