kendall jenner does not dress y2k. y2k is early 2000’s paris hilton, bimbo, low rise jean, van dutch. she does not dress like that at all. and i get what you mean but this “y2k” style tiktok has claimed is not actually y2k.

Girl i'm 25 and I still wear my sweater vest, big chunky boots, big baggy jeans, cheetah print etc. I usually just throw a leather blazer to kinda "adult" it up. I always say I wish I was 16 in 2020 cause when I was 16 the fashion was SO UGLY like skin tight Abercrombie zip ups and layers tanks under other tanks! In my M-F office job 9-5 I wear my adult clothes so if I want to wear my youthful clothes 2 days outta the week im gunna!

Hi Laini! I have thrifted several long winter coats this year (I am quite embarrassed to admit that I have gone unnecessarily overboard in this respect😊!) AND I purchased them all at Goodwill for $1 each at their Sunday Dollar sales (a certain color ticket is chosen each week, and those pieces of clothing are only $1 per item!). Honestly, I think they are warmer than my down jacket and they cover so much of me, that I stay toasty all over! I had no winter coats that fit so I donated all those too large jackets/coats and thrifted the following long wool (or wool-blend) coats: a black, a navy, a dark brown, a camel, and a red (and a short black pea coat on the first Dollar Day!). Before the dollar sales were re-instated, I had purchased an inexpensive lighter plaid thrifted wool coat as well.). It is quite expensive to dry clean all these coats so I have chosen not to do so. Here are the ways I treat my thrifted coats, as well as some other suggestions for you! FIRST: I either use a lint brush or sticky tape roller over the entire coat-inside ans out (including pockets!).! I even have been known to use a clean brush nozzle attachment on my vacuum cleaner to suck out all the dirt and other debris possible! Then, I steam the wool coats on high steam which expands and loosens the wool fibers greatly causing additional debris to simply fall out! I then take the coats outdoors and shake them to remove everything I can from the steamed fibers. I will also go over the coat again with a lint brush or roller. I often air the coats for several hours at this point and then, I spray the coat evenly with Febreeze’s perfume-free odor eliminator and hang until completely dry (inside or out!). After it is thoroughly dry, I will turn the coat inside out and spray the other side and allow to hang dry as well! I have not felt the need to spray with Lysol (but I have read the suggestions), and have been too reluctant to try this, but if you are inclined to spray anything on your clothing, I would definitely check an inconspicuous part of the coat to test the results before potentially ruining the garment! I have also read that you can put an absolutely dry wool coat in the dryer and run for 15- 30 minutes on high heat to further insure it is clean and sanitized. If the coat is dry it should not shrink, but I would do some more research before trying this method! Of course there could be problems if there are leather or other materials on the coat that could be damaged by heat! I did use this dryer method on some wool blazers and they turned out fine for me! You can also put the dry garment inside a plastic trash bag and seal it off for 2 weeks and any issues with lice will be effectively dealt with! There are products that are sold to clean clothing at home, and even dry-cleaning “packs” that you can use that are significantly cheaper than taking the items to the dry cleaners. Here is the thing....I really don’t like the chemicals that are used to dry clean clothing at most cleaners anyway, and putting those chemicals on my body worry me more than the possibility of non-sterilized clothing from the thrift store. There are “green cleaners” you may want to look into, or several herbal and non-toxic alternatives that are supposedly be effective-such as a vinegar and water spray application, but again, I think you need to do your own research!! There is a great deal of information/suggestions that you can read about online if you are still worried about cleaning your thrifted items, and lots of hints to clean stains off second hand items as well! Thrifting, I believe is so beneficial to our planet (more sustainable to reuse!) and to our pocketbooks-that it is an incredible alternative to fast fashion that is overpriced and over produced! I do recognize that over-thrifting is not a good choice either, and in fact, is NOT the way to help our planet or make good choices, and I have committed myself to being to much more careful, restrained, and selective in the future!!!!! Thrifting trips can become quite addictive, as each one becomes a treasure hunt and while you can end up with your own style AND a unique piece of clothing/outfit that no one else has-you can end up with way more clothes than any person needs or can truthfully enjoy! Trends cycle over and over and over through the years (sometimes season to season!) so it is also very easy to find vintage or past seasons pieces that fit right into the latest fashion trends of the moment! However, it is also incredibly beneficial to thrift basic items as well as that will stay in your closet for a long, long time-and that you can put together with “statement” items to create beautiful, chic, and/or fun looks! All that is in addition to the fact that you can save incredible amounts of money which you can either save for the future, use for things you and your family really NEED, or to make memories and experiences that will last in your heart and mind for a lifetime...as compared to a single season in a oversized, puffed sleeve, rabidly-ruffled, large-collared, button up zebra print top.....just for example!😆

Especially for wool, cashmere, tweed, real leather and real suede items, though I personally don't buy suede because I live in the UK where it rains often and maintaining suede here just seems like a losing battle lol. I've just managed to get my boyfriend into it too and he's bought himself 3 leather jackets since lmao

I had the same thoughts about Chicago! I thought people would be really adventurous here like in nyc but they really aren’t that much. But also I live off the brown line. I feel like people off the blue line are a little more creative. But I’ll start being more bold if you will :)

honestly when u buy leather or anything that needs to be dry cleaned at the thrift i just machine wash it cold and let it hang dry and it’s always fine. plus if it’s not it was only $6

Their stuff is nice but comes up really short. They are a uk brand and have been about here for ages. I find them hit and miss, the sequin dresses are good quality but some of the other stuff can be a bit over priced IMO

@@anniebrooks8302 okay thanks that helped a lot. 😊And yeah their stuff is really pricey.😕That’s why I didn’t know if it’s really worth the money.
