except when you realize that in every cluster of candy vending machines there is only really 1 3rd actually being bought, and if you haven't guessed its the gum. Candy machines are a plummeting business scheme they were real popular back in the days but now its quite uncommon to make profit on all of the candy they sell. i used to own a massive 8 piece cluster in 2 different malls and in 2 different mom an pop shops, eventually i realized that the ones at the malls were only making profit off the gumballs and the other candy were not even making money. The ones in both mom an pop shops were making little to no money, (and yes they were seeing constant people going in an out every day i watched these places for a few weeks to make sure they had people traffic) and again only the gumballs were making profit. another thing you have to realize is odds of someone buying a gumball are lower now because there are just better gums out there, most gumballs now are way too sugary and can make it feel like your throat is burning from all the sugar.
@cheetochi81366 жыл бұрын
all in all if you put candy machines up its best to just focus on gum because thats something an adult would buy as well as a kid, find fruity flavored gum, Minty if possible, and original gum flavored or what ever flavors of gum you think might sell. also take in account that a pack of 6 pieces of gum can sell for 0.75$ so you cannot put your machines next to gas stations an what not

I admire the entrepreneurial mindset, but I have one very large skepticism: we are estimating that these all sell in a reasonable amount of time. I don't think these are going to sell at the rate at which you predict. I've never seen anyone purchase these, and even if they do, that's a lot of transactions that have to come through in a small hair salon. Also, fewer and fewer people are carrying cash on them every day, so their are less potential clients every day. That's just my skepticism, but I wish you the best of luck in your business!

$20 profit to sell a 5lbs bag of skittles...
@ronbreton2966 жыл бұрын
My average for a placed gumball/candy triple head vend machine was about 25 per month. When you figure your profit per machine it is very small however your goal is to grow your business to where you will start to make a very good part time or full time wage. I myself, due to a heart condition never grew my business past the hobby stage. Keep your machine clean and only fill about half unless sales show you need more and you will not have to worry about stales. Also stay away from seasonal colors for candy or gum. After Halloween, Christmas or whatever season it is a big sign for people to assume the candy is stale. One more thing, do not be afraid of removing a machine that is placed in a store that is selling less than $5 per month it will only become a stale trap. On a side note most of my sales come from employees. Customers only produce about 25% of total sales. Remember you are not looking to to make a living on several machines. In order to make a VERY GOOD LIVING WAGE you will need at least 200 machines that are placed. One of my competitors makes in profit about 150k per year with a combination route of soda and candy/gumball vend machines. This is not an easy business. You will have headaches just like any other business. I had to stop myself when I had heart problems. You will need to be healthy for this business.

Your videos are great! Just to add... I did candy machines for many years. Change one of three selections to 1" gumballs. You will have to change out the wheel in the machine. I'm sure they are cheap on Ebay, they make the most profit. 850ct box at Sams is less than $20. A 25 cent vend and gumball cost is .03 cents. .22 cent profit per vend. Not bad. It will help you with the higher cost product in the other two. Thanks!

My mom wouldn't let us buy from the ones with open candy though. She'd let us get gum balls at most. She always felt the candy looked old and unsanitary in a machine like that. We used to gravitate to toy ones a lot like bouncey balls and stickers. My fav as a kid were ones with kiddie jewellery. I have a faux crystal necklace that i got in a 25c machine that became my "icon" piece growing up. Do not buy new machines unless your business is profiting enough to support it. When purchasing used machines Make sure you use a list when you visit the seller. Check of everything on your list or make sure you use whatever is needed in your negotiations. Such as , NO KEYS renegotiate for cost of keys and your time. Machine filthy ask for a discount . Most of all most people selling machines will have 1,2 or 3 machines already placed in a store making money and they are looking to sell. Ask if they have any other machines or machines in a business. The person who started me by selling 2 of his machines to me, was able to build a 200 machine business already placed for about 1/3 the money to start a route. Always ask they can only say no.

Love how you try to spread knowledge but I don't take what you say seriously

I really appreciate this video. I've been looking into quite a few small business ideas, wash and fold, vending machines, etc. I don't have a lot of money but I have really been thinking about investing into something like candy machines. I appreciate you going through your process of researching, buying, and testing your machines. It helps to see someone else do it and it makes me more comfortable on trying to go forward with it Thanks, Andrew

Yo man I truly appreciate you showing the truth about starting new business adventures. Not everything works out the first time and you have to work with what you got.
