I have that WDVE record in the thumbnail. It's a pretty good find there.

These are great, these travelogues. Cool that you met up with War on Drugs. I stopped in Ohio on the way to Chicago last month but unfortunately no time for shops. Hoping to get back there very soon
@PermanentRecordsLAАй бұрын
It’s been fun making them! I travel a lot buying records and I rarely have time to document the journey. I will try to do that more often going forward. Holler if you need any Ohio or Pennsylvania recommendations beyond these and I will be your guide. I can also, guide you around Chicago and almost every way! Having lived there for five years I really got to know that wonderful city well,

Very cool news and thanks for sharing the albums on the roadtrip. All roadtrips always end up in a record store or two whether it was our original intentional or not. Look forward to the upcoming news on the potential new release.

My pleasure! All roads lead to record stores, but only one leads to Permanent Records’ Roadhouse! Stay tuned!

Hey Lance! I have bought many lps from Permanent Records both in person ( 2013 - 2019, when I lived in Las Vegas) and on Instagram. I was born in Youngstown, Ohio, lived there for 29 years, moved to Vegas in 1996, returned to Youngstown in 2019 until the present. I fill in for the owners of the local shop Cycle Breakers Records on an as needed basis, have been collecting records since middle school in the late 1970s. I share your love for heavy psych and prog, hard rock, folk, blues, etc. As you know, Ohio is the mecca for Underground bands, especially Youngstown. Peppermint Studios recorded some great bands. Too bad that our paths didn't cross when you were in Youngstown. Under Dog Records owner Sonny is a legend. So cool that you had the opportunity to visit Peppermint. Bull Run was just released, it's right up my alley. Next time, go to West Side Bowl, it houses Cycle Breakers Records. One of the owners, Dean, is in a couple of bands and also tours with The Zombies over in Europe. Looking forward to hearing the rest of your adventure in The Buckeye State. Peace.

Youngstown is the Mecca, for sure! You beat me to the punch…stay tuned for part two! Shoot me an email and we’ll try to meet up at Cycle Breakers on our next trip!

I’m pretty close to Toledo, but I am in Michigan. ( miniature rust belt town) Next time you’re headed to Ohio, drop me a note. I collected all the weird stuff in LA, that Don Boles, Stryker, or Andy Zax didn’t get first. Fun peruse in a record collection if you’re looking for adventure.👍 my Channel hasn’t highlighted the LP collection yet, but that’s the goal, eventually… all the rare and obscure vinyl played for the KZbin subscribers.

Nice! I’d love to visit ya next time! Stoked to see what you have in store for us!

Ha. Last week I commented on your Amsterdam video and how you’re showing up in numerous KZbin and podcasts I follow. Now this. I live about mile from My Mind’s Eye and know Charles. And I spend much time up at the islands in the summer. Annnnd, I’m friends with up and coming Youngstown band, The Vindys, who record at Peppermint. Damn. Small world my friend.

I'm from Cleveland and there are cool record stores in the area but the best I've seen is in Cincinnati- Shake It Records in the neighborhood of Northside.
@PermanentRecordsLAАй бұрын
Shake-It is a Cincinnati staple. It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but they’ve always had a good reputation.

I won't say the name of the band I'm thinking it may be but is one of the members named Wolfgang? This band's name wasn't unique as there were many across the US using it. I remember my brother had this wild long hair, Tony Alva type stoner friend back in the 70's in our neighborhood named Wolfgang. Years later, one of my sisters' older boyfriends is telling me about a battle of the bands and the band he and his friends liked never got their due and lost to a band with a prissy, Robert Plant looking singer, (the first I've heard of this band with the common name). Years after that, I hear on college radio, a band from late 70's/early 80's reunited (with this common band name), is being interviewed and have write ups on them. I'm reading them and see one of the dudes is named Wolfgang. I'm thinking it's gotta be the same dude from the neighborhood. In your video you mention doing some reissue of a band from around here and all that so all that. It got me thinking, maybe it's those guys?
@PermanentRecordsLA24 күн бұрын
We haven’t done any re-issues with the band member named Wolfgang, but I would love to hear more about this band if you find out more details!

Wow, I must be doing something wrong here. I’ve owned a record store for over 18 years and I’ve been collecting for over 25 years. Please watch some of my other videos for more context. I appreciate your feedback back and I will try to do a better job showing my experience in the future.
