Thanks for speaking honestly on this one! Most people in the business of selling trees tend to push the idea that buying bigger (and more $$) is always better. I've planted quite a few trees after moving to my house about 2.5 yrs ago and I can say that the biggest tree's I've purchased haven't faired any better than the smaller trees, and maybe even a little worse. Many of the trees I got when they were smaller are now doing better than the trees I purchased when they were larger. A lot of my smaller trees seem to grow super fast while many trees that started bigger seem to stay the same. 🤔

Was at a nursery today and the guy said the most common reason plants die is over watering. I could hear your voice in my head 😂 Keep on rocking brother. Love the channel.

Good tips, I air layer proven citrus I have and then preserve the genetics. Good to back up your fav plants,

I hope you get some relief from the extreme heat soon there in AZ! Maybe the monsoon season will start before too long.

Inventory is looking great man. Helpful info for sure. I lost 3 trees this summer from missing one day.

Reason why I have most of my plants on automatic water. What plants did you lose?
@SuburbicultureAZ Жыл бұрын
@qctropicals Surprisingly, 3 stone fruit hybrids, DW. They never recovered after the ride home really. So they slowly dropped their leaves, and it just kept getting hotter.

love ur channel!! Just bought 2 star apple tree last month. Im in lousiana and it 90-99 degree every day. should i water in the morning and afternoon or just afternoon? everywhere said over water will kill them. 8hr sunlight everyday for them

if in a pot follow my 50% rule. If in the ground, use the finger method to water first summer. YOu're in perfect growing conditions right now, hot and humid. Until winter then it will get destroyed. star apple is frost sensitive.

Great video, Alan! I'm curious though, is there any difference in hardiness of the plant once fully rooted? Or is a fully rooted 15 gal plant no "stronger" than a fully rooted 1 gal plant? Also, does every plant size of the same species always take the same amount of time to become fully rooted? Thanks for fighting the good fight!
@qctropicals Жыл бұрын
It depends on the plant but remember most plants won't be fully rooted until they are actually in the ground. But let's use the most popular plant I sell "mango trees" a 15 gallon grafted mango will die just as fast as a 1 gallon mango from cold damage. And no, plants are just like you and I. We are all humans but yet we all grow a different rates, same for plants.

It's 120 out and two of my trees I purchased locally here in Nevada are dying. It's your fault Allen, I'm reporting you to the aliens...hehe.
