I bought just the hardware package and provided my own wood. Not only did I save over half the money but I also was able to customize the width of my frame as well as round the corners slightly to eliminate that sharp edge.

@sebastian u can also stain each side 2 different shades or colors so u can change it up when u get bored! Flip and done

Helpful info. Just bought the hardware, but building my own panels. I'll be sure to shrink them down to fit the mattress, round the sharp corners and add some bracing behind the headboard.

Yes those overhangs will fuck up your ankles and the pain is no joke it has brought me to tears many many times but I do like the excusive over hang though lol. I love the bed.

They make little clear corner covers that are for baby-proofing. They round sharp corners....or, the classic, a cut tennis ball shoved on it!

i have 2 questions: could you share the exact length of your mattress? i looked it up but the website just provides the general 76 x 80. and can you share the distance between the edge of the bed frame (top part against the wall) and where the top of the mattress sits? i noticed the mattress looks like its sitting really far to the bottom of the frame compared to the model photos i see online and so im assuming the headboard is causing it to sit further down. im planning to get panels from another company and am trying to figure out if i need to add a couple inches to the length to make the sides more even in space leftover.

I had a low profile bed for yrs and the first thing I thought of when see this was my shins. They still have phantom pain from my time with that bed. Loved it, but painful.

You can easily make one yourself, my buddy got one, I copied some features and got rid of corners and he preferred mine over that.

Considering how big the king size frame is, do you think your king-size mattress would fit comfortably in a queen size bed frame?

It's difficult to say. It may be best to measure your mattress's width and compare it against the width of the queen bed frame to see what, if any, overhang would be present

I'm really not sure of a way to customize the headboard - I believe you'd have to use some different type of mounting brackets aside from the ones that are included with the bed frame

I believe so. From my understanding, the only difference between the king and the queen is one extra panel

I don't think a king mattress would work with their queen bed frame based on the size of the panels. You'd likely want a king on a king - I just wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect before ordering

100% frame is way to large for a king and I have the exact same issue. Veneer and panels feel super weak and hollow. Totally agree. Would not buy this bed if given another opportunity.

From my understanding, a California King (84" tall by 72" wide) mattress is actually a little smaller than a regular King (80" tall by 76" wide). We have a King mattress

huh. we haven't actually had this positive an experience with floyd. the customer service is terrible and literally takes days to not actually care enough to really understand the issue of the item simply not fitting. the queen frame is ridiculously wide (it's the same as a king, obviously, not the same as a full), to the point where it can't be easily transported without a rental van. the delivery required an 8 hour window, which meant that i had to get it delivered to my job, so now i need to rent a vehicle to get it to my place, where in order to return it i must first verify all contents of two boxes, one of which may or may not have a certificate of authenticity which is required if present but might not be present! then i need to repack into the original packaging and take it to the shipping site which is like a half day event. and now your video tells me it isn't even made of solid wood, but some kind of hollow bullshit? so it's not even sturdy? well. thanks for the heads up. i can't imagine a worse company to deal with. never again.

Floyd bed frame made of cardboard - DON'T BUY! I have Floyd Platform bed frame - the birch plywood (King size) that I bought a few years ago for over $2000. We moved to a new place that has a smaller room. To reduce the overhang of the frame on either side, I decided to reduce the width of the 22inch panel to 1ft by cutting it along the length with a circular saw. Lo and behold, I see that the thing is made of cardboard! The construction is just two 6mm plywood supported with cardboard all through. I would have atleast expected the thing to be supported with thicker plywood for support. ​ ​

The bed is a trend and you buy it for looks like you just stated. Is not practical you’re paying for looks. Bet the update version will be rounded ages and people will still get it. Trend and looks is what people want NOT practicality. You buy a Tesla for looks and trend not cuz is a good car or cuz it changes the world.

It's actually way more practical than my current bed which looks amazing but is hard to make regularly cause of posts and sides, with this bed its easy to make and see hospital corners, it does seem over priced though
