As a Hungarian, we are way too familiar with the Trabant. They’ve been around long enough to know Victoria’s Secret and to have worn Ghandi’s flip flops, they’re cheap as shit and you can buy spare parts and pay by the kilo instead of paying for the part itself. Same as the Lada really. You supe up the engine a little or replace it with a cheap civic 1.3 or a 1.3 Lada engine and you got yourself the cheapest rally car. (Long standing tradition in Hungary to rally with shite boxes) Btw “I bought a Trabant” in Hungarian was pretty good! Keep it up Scotty lad!!!

They can be reliable cars, very much so. Just needs the proper way of maintaining it. When it gets sorted, it's gonna be the donkey car that cannot be killed😂😂. You can buy brand new crate engines for these for not a lot, same with gearbox and "performance" stuff as well

man, soviet cars are antonyms of reliability, they can be easily fixed though😅
@iro-huncarguy8367 Жыл бұрын
@@viacheslavkushnirenko4198 they can be fairly reliable, mainly because its super simple. If you make sure you have the right oil:fuel ratio it will LAST. I've seen them fucking go through everything and they are just absolute units of trooper cars. They need to be taken care of the right way however, which is VERY minimal

Wow, it could go a 120, that's insane! It doesn't really do any good for the engine though. I've tried maybe 110 once, and never since. With 90 at max., it'll live forever, anything over that you're just killing the engine. Even the manual says you should only use 100 km/h for about 15 minutes at once, then give it some break on slower speeds.
@scottyfairno9 ай бұрын
The speedometer is way off, 120 is roughly 95km/h
@MetalTrabant9 ай бұрын
@@scottyfairno I know it cheats around +10 normally, and 100 on the speedo is about 90 in reality. Believe me it doesn't like even that for a long run. Can take some beating, but if you plan with it for a longer time, about 80-90 on the speedo is comfortable for the engine. The slower you go, the more it'll live, and vica versa.
