If your buying packs, buy the full box. Ignoring the cost, you're guaranteed a certain number of secret rares whereas single packs might just be the leftovers after they've gotten the secrets from a box

Is tcg player legit? I just got back into yu gi oh. Bought the spirit charmers structure deck (Im a spellcaster guy) and I love it. Individually I bought magician of black chaos, magicians valkyria, dark magician, dedication through light and darkness for when I get dark magician of chaos. Anyways I REALLY REALLY want the yugis legendary decks 1. 25 foils. All the magicians I want for now. Ive never had a dark magician girl. My valkyria I just got yesterday is the closest. I personally like to buy deck cores (maybe not the highest rarity), then upgrading the rarities over time. I now have max rarity gustos, vylons, red-eyes, cloudians, synchrons, gagagas, and a few more. It's honestly a good investment. Also, the lost art promotions are a good investment too

I believe buying a specific structure deck with a clear strategy that fitting the duelist is more practical than buy a booster packs that may have a lot of cards which works with many deck but have a very few that actually works with the deck you are using , and in case that deck become obsolete buying a new structure deck after 8 months

Hunting around eBay has yielded some pretty good results in buying singles. I snatched two copies of Card of Demise (pre-Kaiba reprint) for about $30. Buying pre-constructed Decks of popular cards is also a quick way to get Decks/cards quickly.

At this point, I feel like Yugi's grandpa who clung to his precious Blue Eyes despite Kaiba's offers. The newer cards might be trending and popular and even give you more edge in competitions. But to me personally, there's just something about the older series, as well as the products that go with them, that feels more like a fun fantasy world (and being a 2000's kid, there's also the added nostalgia boost from Duel Monsters, GX, and 5-Ds).

The problem I have is, when growing up playing YGO (I played during the 2002-2007) back then it was very straight forward and you could've found other people playing it and they were easy to find, by straightforward I mean no one was playing meta atleast around my area, it was buy what you like - play what you like, and it worked. Then all of a sudden everyone quit around 2007 or so, in my area, now I came back again because I love the card design but I have no one to play with at all and I've tried getting people to play but they are not interested, main reason it's expensive, and I agree. Now for me to have a chance of playing there is a gameshop 1,5 hour drive away but I've seen them play and they all play meta decks, which is also off-putting, since I'm quite new and don't want to buy meta builds straight-away, mind you I have the money for it. But rather there's no one to learn it with, I'm doing my learning, watching youtube videos but half the learning comes from playing the game, I've also been playtesting my current deck plenty, both playing myself and/or playing ygopro (getting my ass whooped not knowing what happened half the time) but still isn't the same feeling as playing real-life YGO. I feel as the reason behind everyone at the nearest gameshop is playing meta, is because those were dedicated players that didn't quit entirely but sticked with the game ever since, also to add, all my local shops have stopped selling YGO vards, the only shop I have is gamestop and often do not have anything except maybe the newest booster/structure (zombie horde, soul fusion... at the exact moment of writing this).

Conclusion: Wish more people played around my area, I really love the game. I even went through the effort and invited a friend over, bought loads of snacks and gave him one of my two beginner decks to play with (teaching him the ins- and- outs of the game) but he seemed bored all the time and not convinced at all.

One good way to save money and play with a lot of fun is actually playing from the best best apps of yugioh like duel generation, duel links , and legacy of duelist you can buy specific structure deck with only 5 dollars in duel generation, and with duel links you can buying with gems as you gain as you're playing.

I just bought a box of cards and an Elemental Hero deck from a buddy. All the Heros and fusions were sleeves, others not and hardly if not played at all. Should I seek grading or just kinda hang on to em and enjoy my cards?

Cyber Dragons are a fairly cheap deck, as are Ancient Gears (provided you don't get Ancient Gear Fusion, a playset of those would cost more than the rest of the deck combined). Machines in general seem pretty cheap, and they work well with Limiter Remover and Power Bond for those OTKs. If only there was a good Dark Machine archtype that could combine limiter remover and allure of darkness.

I started playing again after 10 years and I relized this game is not the same as it was 10 years ago. I'm getting overwhelmed at one turn by my opponent while he has a monster on the fieled with 3500 Attack at the first round while is half deck is at the Graveyard. Why is this game so "Fast" and "unbalanced" (In my eyes). Compared to 10 years ago? I mean I couldn't do anything with my Deck. I'm playing casual but that is not fun at all. I just regret that I started playing again. Maybe I just need to get used of it, but still what sense does it make to get dominated at the first turn while you haven't even set a card?

I know I’m 4 months late but you can use online websites and programs such as duelingbook and ygopro and when creating a duel room/game whatever they are called write in the description or name the duel “no meta decks” or something along those lines. It might take longer for someone to join but you won’t lose turn 1.

Hi, I have a question or rather a problem. So I want to get back into yugioh and I bought some structure decks x3 each to try out and improve... now my problem is the following: There are 12k cards in this game. How the hell do I even get to know cards especially from previous releases which would fit perfectly into my deck? It's not like there is a search engine somewhere in which I can enter a desired effect or something and it gives me the closest matches or am I wrong?

I highly recommend the Yugioh Card Database it's an official website that contains every card in the game and you can filter out the cards depending on what you're looking for like Fire, aqua, effect, synchro monsters.

It's hard to get cards for cheap, especially trading. Pokemon: You can buy a pack or two and you will probably have cards someone else wants, causing a circle of trading until you have a better deck. Magic The Gathering: Players usually get rid of boxes filled with cards, some players will even build a deck for you, the manufacturer will even give you a deck for free. No matter what, you can make something competitive for free. Yugioh: You can buy a box of cards and no one will want them.

Great video and helpful tips! On a different note I'm a returning player from 5D era and before so my knowledge of what categories cards fall under is very limited. How many categories of cards are there i.e 5D, GX, etc (I don't know anymore). I was wondering if anyone can help me list the names of "era" cards fall under like 5D and GX not sure what the ones before those were called. Would appreciate it if someone can help me name them!
