My dad had severe hairloss during the 60's-70's and I'm curious how he dealt with it during those times when hair was important. I can't ask him because he passed away a long time ago, but what did your dad do during that time period ? Did he wear a toupee ? I'm curious what bald men did back then because when you watch movies or see musicians from that time period, no one is bald.

I'm an older guy of 57 and I sympathize for young guys in their 20's early 30's who experience hair loss. When I was that age it was the 80's-90's and being a musician in those days I had to have hair down to my ass or else. Shaving your head in those days was a NO WAY GONNA HAPPEN thing. Bald Heads didn't even start being "cool" until Michael Jordan made it so. My hair didn't start getting thin until my 40's and I realized and by then It was gonna be ok to buzz it off. I'm also blessed that since I'm old now my hair is gray to almost white so I can just buzz it and not worry about the hair showing my balding pattern because the lightness of the stubble blends in with my skin tone. If I were younger with dark brown black I would definitely wet shave instead. I just want to say, this is a great channel and you're really helping guys with their anxiety. We can still look great with out the hair !

To my surprise, when I went to sleep that evening my head perspired so much that it was not only very uncomfortable but it also left my pillow wet with perspiration. Now, I’m going on 73 and balding from my crown and I am going to buzz my hair to the very shortest possible length. Great video! I’ve probably watched it 3 times over the last few months. Probably as a part of some recent decisions I’ve had to make. After doing wet razors for over a year, I’m returning indefinitely to the clippers (zero). The irritation ain’t worth it (despite trying every trick in the book). I’m in my mid 40s, low body fat and fit with a thick beard. It’s clear the hair is going with this buzz cut, so now I call it my “idgaf-wut-u-think-about-me-going-bald-buzz-cut.” Still workshopping a better name, but you get my point. The buzz cut is actually more liberating than a razor shave, but I appreciate both.

A word of advice for all of you young guys; I decided to shave my head in my 30s because of my thinning hair on top and receding hairline. After I got a little sun and my head wasn’t pale white, even the brothers complimented me on it. Many white guys don’t look good with a completely shaved head. My mistake was, not using sunscreen! I would purposely go out without a hat or sunscreen on hot summer days trying to get a tan and ended up with a lot of moles forming. The dermatologist said that they are mostly harmless, just caused by overexposure to the sun, but they don’t look good. So if you’re going to go for it and shave it all off, do yourself a favor and use sunscreen or wear a hat in direct sunlight.

Tried and shave twice in my life, but don't look as fine as buzz on me, which I've done weekly for 8 years now. Best move in my life. It saves time, money on products, and gives a badass look. No fancy or posh haircuts that can be ruined by wind or rain anymore. Gentlemen, it's time for men to look as MEN.

One hour ago I decided to shave my head. Recently my hair started to receed very fast. As you can see in my profile picture, I had very long hair and I was loving it but after a few years it thined a lot. Got some haircuts for a few years but people kept telling me that I am going bald. I didn't want to believe it honestly but recently I was in a field trip and in the photos I saw that the middle piece was super light and the balding was going very fast. I finally did it! I am feeling great! I am 23 years old.

Good video. So many people say they've "shaved their head" when they've really only just "buzzed it off" with clippers. Quick question. This may be a common thing but not sure, so here goes. Is it normal for your head to feel sorta like numb after initially shaving your head for a period of time (1-2 days or longer)? Please share when your freed up. Thank you.
@Baldcafe5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it feels numb but after the initial shave maybe for 24 hours or so It might feel a little sensitive or "strange" since it is an exposed scalp. I think after a long time shaving though the skin does get more used to it.

I think the uneven zero all-over buzzcut can be due to the direction of one's hair growth. Just as with facial hair, many people have multi-directional hair growth on their scalp. While you can get the look that is considered "bald" by most people with hair clippers w/o blade guard, with multi-directional hair growth, you will likely get it irregular and clean-shaven is the better look, IMHO. It gets a bit easier with a #1 buzz. If you want a buzz cut that is #2 or longer, you can get it regular easily, even with hair that grows into a myriad of directions. I do use a mirror to check if I missed a spot somewhere, though.

I still keep my hair long for now as the thinning doesn't look bad yet. I'm still in the "trying to accept it" phase, but also looking into actual options, etc. Because I wanna be prepared. My hair loss patterns looks very similar to yours, plus high temples. I tried the bald look (completely shaven) about a year ago, but honestly it showed my hair loss even more clearly, than having it long does. Sure, it looks a little flat on top, but not like... as thin as it actually is, lol. I only plan on keeping it long for as long as it still looks good. When it starts looking bad, I'll shave it off. And I think I'd likely go for wet shave, unless I'm too lazy to maintain it smooth so often. Although I do like the smooth look the best! So I might still go for that at least occasionally. Also I've gotta learn how to shave my head with my safety razor, because I'm not about to waste loads of money on cartridge blades again, lmao. Also I'm 31, and started losing my hair at 25, so quite young.

Agree with pretty much everything and some very good points in there! I am a diffuser too, so my hairline is pretty much still there for the most. I also started with the longer buzz and slowly worked my way down to a zero. I recently switched to a foil shaver, because buzzing every 2-3 days is quite annoying since you have to press really hard to get all those hairs with the clipper teeth if they are still shortish. I also wasn't feeling comfortable anymore after like 3 days without a cut. So imo, if you are diffusing and its very light, go for a zero guard buzzcut and if its the hairline thats receding, I'd go for a fade, with like a 1 or 2 on top and a zero on the sides. very easy to learn and do once a week. And even if you mess it up, shave it all and after 10 days you'll get a new chance to do it. For bald spots or major thinning there is only one option and thats the wet razor (or a dry variant).

My balding story is kinda different than most. I actually had a very bad acne problem on my scalp that made my hair uneven with bald patches from hair loss. It basically forced me to go bald and I’m ok with it and find it cool and masculine. Because of the medication I’m on for it and the uneven spots I find the buzz better. Until my skin is better and more smooth I’ll buzz it. The shave is my end goal because it can be a very fast everyday option

I buzz and shave, depends on the day. I always cut myself when I use a safety razor so I try the disposable and they work great but I hate the waste so then I try and buzz my head but it doesn’t feel as good or and tight.

If using wet razor. Wet and wash your skalp with shampoo and warm water. Rinse well. Then lather up with warm shave cream. Make sure use freshes razor. Not worked out ones. That should take care of any iritation. After rinsing with cold water. Try using after shave lotion. Without alcohol. Hope that helps

I’m 33 and from January til now I have lost the majority of the hair on the top my head. I have always had very thin , very blonde almost like platinum/ white hair and for the last 20 years have sported a high n tight and probably the last 13 years of that a razor shave high and tight. With various links on top. I’m currently sporting a high and tight with a #1 on top, I have on occasion wet shaved my head I absolutely love it, and that’s the direction I would like to go with my baldness but my wife who has never seen or felt me with a shaved head is wanting me to keep the buzz cut/high n tight look my problem with this is after couple days or a week the sides grow out to were they look longer than the top. And if I leave the top longer than a number one or number two you can see how thin my hair is and it looks bad. So here’s where I’m at how do I get my wife to embrace the razor shave as a #1 is the shortest my wife will buzz my hair!
@Baldcafe5 жыл бұрын
Same as me. I rocked the high and tight in my initial stages of hair loss. You can see it in my "life and death of my hair video" but when it got longer even 2 days after the cut it looked terribly thin in the middle. My advice man, go out get some shave goodies and just wet shave it off one day. tell your wife what you told me, its starting to look untidy which you didn't like and so this is the new style. 👌
@Huvler.Cole7x5 жыл бұрын
Baldcafe that’s exactly how my hair is a couple days after it’s cut it looks untidy. I think you hit the nail on the head and I finally figured out that, that’s the thing that bothers me the most about this going bald deal. It’s the fact my hair does not look tidy ,wearing a high and tight I’ve always kept it short and maintained it every week or two week got it cut and tried to keep it looking good I could never stand it when it started to grow out and get poofy it had to be cut ASAP. And now I just feel like it’s untidy all the time except like you said in the first couple days after it’s cut. And I feel like a shaved head is very tidy! Fortunately too I already have some head blade stuff from when I shaved my head and from shaving the sides of my head! Thank you! Just going to have to shave and say surprise,lol

Wet razor all the way. For best results I shave twice. Shave my head once then immediately apply more soap and shave for a second time. almost guarantees the best results. Another downside for y'all is it is hard to keep a beanie hat on without any hair/stubble to provide friction. The hat just sits there and does not feel secure at all. Does anyone else have this problem?
@Baldcafe5 жыл бұрын
I totally know what you mean. Freshly shaved the hat won't stay on. 1/2 day old stubble the hat won't come off!

I have been shaving my head since Covid using an electric shaver. My first and second shaver had the foil wear out causing cuts. Replacement blades are in the $70 to $80 dollar range. That is why I opted for a new shaver. I just tried wet shaving. I used a three blade razor. The head came out smooth with only one nick over a red type mole. I would like to know your thoughts about electric shavers versus wet razors.

Man, I have the exact same pattern you have. The problem is I'm only 21, but from last summer until now all my hair just fell. I'm really having a bad time deciding to just shave it all, but I don't want to look like my grandpa... not for at least 30 more years... *sigh* it's just hair, isn't it? shouldn't be so difficult..
@ActinideOfficial5 жыл бұрын
You will look less like a grandpa after you shave tbh. I started balding at 18 and at 21 i decided to just shave it off. I felt so much more free that i don't have to worry if my bald spots are showing. It does make you look a bit older but in a manly way, not like a grandpa haha.

For younger guys its better to be bald rather than balding. You wont look like a grandpa trust me. Hit the solarium, grow a nice beard if you can, wear some nice glasses..just embrace it
